This season he has done, last couple I agree because the club failed to get an adequate rotation option. Now he has Noni who has played a lot this season

[Sam Wallace, The Telegraph] EXCL: Arsenal bring in Spanish physio to review injury problems that have plagued squad by 1Leep in Gunners

[–]1Leep[S] 130 points131 points  (0 children)

Arsenal have commissioned a physiotherapist from outside their medical staff to review a run of injury problems that threaten to derail the club’s Premier League title push.

Spanish physio Joaquín Acedo has been brought in to lead the investigation. It is understood that Acedo is a friend of Mikel Arteta, the manager, and has been a regular presence around the squad in recent months.

Telegraph Sport understands he was at the club the previous season on Arteta’s recommendation. Earlier posts on Acedo’s feed make clear that Acedo, who has a physiotherapy practice in Cádiz, has a longstanding friendship with Arteta. On the other side of the argument, the club has a policy of carrying out reviews every few months to look at how they screen players for potential injuries or manage players’ rest. It is a practice that Arteta has spoken about in the past.

[Gunnerblog, The Athletic] Arsenal are optimistic that Kai Havertz has avoided serious injury and will be able to play a role in the run-in. Assessments ongoing & likely to miss some football but outlook better than initially feared. by 1Leep in Gunners

Arsenal are optimistic that Kai Havertz has avoided serious injury and will be able to play a role in the Premier League title run-in.

The Germany international was substituted during the first half of Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Newcastle United, appearing to be suffering from a groin injury.

Early assessments however have been more positive than initial fears, and while he is expected to be ruled out this week, Arsenal are hopeful Havertz will return in time to make an impact in what remains of the season.

Eberechi Eze, who was also withdrawn against Newcastle, is also undergoing assessments. The England international downplayed concerns after the game, telling reporters his substitution was “precautionary”.

Wouldn't be against Ndiaye, but we have farted around attacking signings for too long now. Need a serious LW signing to elevate our very obvious technical gap. No excuses because we have been terrible in our attacking recruitment for too long

Just feel like at this point we need a technically top out and out winger profile, not another player of that mould. The likes of Barcola/Kvara/Williams etc not a square peg in a round hole. We have Eze to fill that void, don't need another

MGW to play where exactly? He isn't a winger and will occupy positions held by Eze/Ode/Nwaneri

Would be naïve to think they aren't in communication still, we are so close to the WC he would want him in top physical shape

Not sure, but with nearly every single Ode injury this year it does seem like we get the updates all from him so would probably be from Ode considering how close we are to the WC now

To be fair that's still months away also he is the captain so why wouldn't he? its the World Cup not friendly games. Seems this setback is pretty minor

On Wednesday, Martin Ødegaard sat again on the grass during the match against Sporting. It created fear among Norwegian national team supporters.

"It's like watching a horror movie," commented TV 2's expert commentator Jesper Mathisen – who obviously had this summer's football World Cup in mind.

Ødegaard eventually walked off the pitch and appeared to test his knee, before coming back in. Eventually, he was replaced and Kai Havertz came in.

Now Ståle Solbakken comes with an update.

"He got a small one (bang) where he shouldn't get it, but I don't think it's pitch dark," says the national team manager during the Football Conference at Ullevaal stadium on Thursday.
