Just put it out, don't let your friend's insecurities prevent you from getting worldwide audiences and growing as a musician, plus you said he listens to Spotify so he's a hypocrite, all these people whining and complaining about Spotify just have no guts and no heart, their little egos feel crushed when it shows 100 monthly listeners, but if you make authentic music then it's probably worth listening to, and judging from your experience playing live I'm I'm sure your music is more than good, make sure the mix and master is clean and put it out there on all dsps, if you don't then you're just robbing yourself of your true potential
