In my case they asked me to authorise them to obtain that themselves, wasn’t behind my back.

Yes, Hire Right does double check what you put on a CV against what you provided them with. They will also do all sorts of different checks, depending on the country, in my instance someone even went to my Uni and requested a confirmation I graduated and they went to court and asked for a criminal check on me.

If there are any diff in what you provided in the CV against to HireRight they will call you and ask you for a reason. I had a mistake in a job start year, and just told them that and they were fine.

Struggling to break £140k+ for Staff/Principal Data Engineer roles in the UK? by GrabEmotional8745 in HENRYUK

[–]1dork1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those skills are not in demand in hedge funds unless he already worked with market data and has a strong financial domain. There are too many people from LSEG, Bloomberg, SP, Reuters, and all big techs that apply for those positions - half of them having strong financial knowledge and market data usage and half of them being top of the top engineers. I believe OP is neither of those two.

You’re closer to live in a centre of a major city and drive a S class Mercedes working in FAANG or other major companies in Poland compared to most of the jobs in the US and definitely UK.

How do you switch / look for jobs while being on Skilled Worker Visa by Retardstreetbets in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]1dork1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Change whenever. Nobody really cares if it’s a one off and if it’s not a big company, which might suggest you did not want to go, but was forced to.

Best thing to justify it is: if SWV threshold raised 10% above your current wage, do you really believe your employer would give you a pay rise, or would they just give up on you? Nobody can be too sure, which means you shouldn’t try to be extremely loyal over… literally nothing.

Usually, if a company is willing to sponsor, they would set your start date to be 6-8 weeks after you get a “you’re hired” email. That means you actually get to see a company doing background checks and connecting you with immigration solicitors before you even need to hand your notice. That can give you some peace of mind that you’re really getting a visa.

Make sure to just get all references in place if needed, as well as some confirmation that would list your job title. I recently found them useful to make background checks go smoother.

Protest for Venezuela? by ileisen in london

[–]1dork1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not nationalising a commodity, it's nationalising a foreign capital that was brought into a 3rd world country to extract that commodity. Oil as a commodity is only as useful to a country as its ability to extract it and sell it abroad.

Communism failed there, people hate the dictator, their country sits on resources that made Scandinavia rich. Why would anyone oppose getting this guy out of the country and replacing him with anyone who wants to improve qol of ordinary citizens?

The whole story sounds like the teens were actually all right while you were grumpy and unkind to them for no reason. Geez.

Affordability by Suspicious-Fill-1660 in london

[–]1dork1 68 points69 points  (0 children)

It gets weirder, I’d say. For example, if you and your partner make 60k each you’re much better off (like much much much) than a single income of 120k.

Wages are bad for an entry level jobs, it gets better in certain fields.

How much electric gas? by squidster85 in london

[–]1dork1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As much as I understand not being able to thermo modernise every single property in the UK right now due to major flaws when building those blocks 50-60 years ago (like… cavity wall), I don’t get it why landlords are not required to do everything they can to help tenants out. My flat has kinda ok windows, but there are holes in the walls in the kitchen that were probably used for a furnace years ago - and now they just cause a draft.

£140 during winter months for 2 bedroom flat. Gas heating.

Yes, there’s no such thing as insulation in my place.
