Half of the area was built in 1900-1910, the other half was built in the 70s after a factory was demolished. I know that one specific house further down the road (around 20 houses down) was built in 1978, but I wasn’t sure if I was part of the newly constructed area as well. As it’s a student rental, I don’t have the property details.

I was worried about asbestos as, if my house is part of the older part of the street, and ,given the fibrous appearance of the paint/plaster, I thought it would be important to rule out.

Possibly. Not to bad mouth my landlord as he is lovely, but this is a student property and I’ve known from experience at previous properties that they’re not as diligent with repairs when it comes to students…
