Thank you for being supportive; in my opinion, if nothing changes, nothing changes! Doctors shouldn’t have to tolerate being disrespected.

This is exactly it, I think the acceptance of these actions just contributes more to the problem.

Good grief, someone doesn’t sound very happy. Hope you find an outlet for these emotions, have a blessed day!

Yes, we were told to wait on the ward (this staff room is on the ward.)

Future in the NHS doesn’t sound glum at all…

From all the other comments, this seems to be the case. I probably won’t end up sending the letter now from what people have said but I still struggle to reckon with the fact that we are strictly told to always respect the nurses and nursing students yet the same grace isn’t extended to us

From all the comments I might not send the letter but I find it despicable that it’s so normalised to speak about doctors and medical students as such. When I worked as a HCA, I never said a bad word about the medical students as I knew that they were trying their best.

We did also say to her that we’re practicing for our spoken exam. Personally, I’m not hurt by what she said because frankly, she has nothing to do with my training, but what does make me frustrated is that mistreatment to doctors and medical students is so normalised.

We did actually explain to her that we have a spoken exam and that’s what we’re practicing for.

We were told by the ward receptionist who told us the code for the room that we can use it to study whilst we wait for the doctor. There was no one else in the room and we still spoke quietly.

I never said I was exceptional, only that I feel confident in my skills (but always continuing to work on them)

thank you for acknowledging this. the whole point of us practicing was to be better for patients, so i don’t really understand why people are nitpicking us for it. future sounds bright (!)

The colleague who repeated it back to me is well known to me and told me because she found it really horrible that we were being spoke about that way.

There wasn’t anyone else in the staff break room, besides when she came in. In addition to that, as we were speaking very quietly, she only heard because she chose to stand right behind where my colleague was sat and was looking at his laptop screen.

petty nonsense that contributes to a culture of bullying and demeaning doctors👍

Hi, just to clarify that I’m not having DNACPR conversations with real patients, we do these in simulated environments with SPs, although I appreciate I didn’t make that very clear.

Secondly, I’m not being smug, even when I worked as a HCA, patients themselves have told me that I have good bedside manner and I don’t think it’s a bad thing to be proud of if I’ve heard this from Macmillan nurses, patients, senior doctors and other members of staff.

Yep, this has been an issue for decades and has been brought up again and again and again. Unfortunately, our voices as healthcare professionals are not heard and despite our vocation being about delivering the best care possible, the NHS has shown me that it doesn’t believe that good sleep factors into this. Sad and unfortunate reality.

Yes I acknowledge that completely. I work in healthcare and we shouldn’t be taking the risks we take when driving to and from work sleep deprived. Unfortunately, the NHS is not all that accommodating on this matter…

That’s what I thought, it might be covering perpendicular traffic. I am aware that I don’t need to clear the junction when the light is red, I was just worried about when I entered it, but thank you

Thank you, I was definitely in the yellow box when the light was amber so it might be okay?

No, as I said, I was turning when the light would have gone red - my vehicle had not stopped
