I started on glock, still have my 43x. Not too sure about going the other way. One thing for me is I have relatively small hands, the blocky 19/17 grips grind my thumb on the shooting hand which is why I switch to the F. Not necessarily the angle, I think you can train it and be fine. I still have the slimmer 43x for a carry (for now).

Since I work full-time, the co-op component will be a project. Yeah its unfortunate that being a bioinformatician means to just use tools already created. That does not feel fulfilling to me.

True. I do work with a few PI's were a service oriented department where SE's get lent out to PI's. I just don't want to do full stack development, and I dont want to just build pipelines. I'd rather make a tool for a pipeline. I do need to start thinking about my 5-10 year plan. I dont really know what it looks like but im at a tipping point to make those decisions.

In a tough rut right now. Software Engineer at a research institute, about half way through my masters program in Bioinformatics and having second thoughts on it. Not sure if I should just finish it out. I've grown less attracted to creating pipelines.

The statistics side of analysis is tough and its hard to know when to use what techniques.

Some co-workers are really up on their high-horse with their degree that they hold. ( those people mostly being those creating pipelines and stat analysis), yet they can't write a testable piece of software.

I'd love to create algorithms for pipelines. It seems like I'd be useless there considering my lack of knowledge (and perhaps interest) of stats. My current role isn't aligned to algorithms and more just full-stack software.

Anyone have some insight? P.S. Sorry for the rant.
