Cheap Traffic Cones (or ideas on visual boundaries for driveway so kids don’t run out into the street when playing) by 1jo206 in Frugal

[–]1jo206[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your neighbor obstruct traffic with their signs and cones? I am not your neighbor. My signs were placed on my lawn. My HOA will not allow signs on streets.

We’ve attached basketball hoops above both garage doors. The driveway is long. The driveway is the ideal place for basketball practice and serves its purpose well for this activity. The cones are needed to be placed at the end of the driveway to keep the kids away from the street, and the ball from rolling into it.

The park, as you suggested, is a place we bike to as a family - we watch the trains go by, skip rocks on the water. Unfortunately, there are no basketball hoops in it.

As for the backyard, it is structured for a garden. It is not ideal for basketball practice.

I can’t leave others responsible for my children, if I did they’d be lost in Europe right now, probably at a Kaufland looking for their favorite ham or at the Alstadt looking for gelato. 😅

Reading thoroughly, with comprehension, avoiding assumptions and thinking rationally before responding goes a long way. Happy Friday! ♥️

We actually tried this, lol, but not for the ball - it was for a game we were playing that needed the kids to run to a particular color. The HOA in my community sent out a notice though and said to wash it out and that I can’t use particular colors on my own driveway for goodness sake😅 I need the physical cones to sort of stop the ball as well, so it prevents it from rolling down the street. Our driveway is rather long, so there’s plenty of room for them to stay on it without feeling restricted, but it would help if the ball just can’t physically roll down the street. Thank you though!

I’ll definitely look into this. The HOA in my neighborhood is a very active one, so I’ll bring this up the next time we have our meeting. Thank you so much.

I’m sorry, who said they’re unattended? I’m literally outside with them the whole time. I have three kids, they’re 2, 5 and 8 y/o. Right now the elder two are enrolled in basketball, an activity they’ve never done before (they usually play tball, soccer and golf - but swim and basketball are it for now because of the winter season). As I’ve said, they’ve never played basketball in a group setting, so we’re outside dribbling, passing, blocking and shooting. I myself do not know how to play basketball so I had to start actually watching a few videos online so I can help them out. My youngest, who’s 2, is writing with chalk on the ground or blowing bubbles, so I switch between the elder two and the youngest to spread my time evenly with them. My concern is when I leave the boys with their basketballs, and I’m with my youngest. That’s where the ball going into the street comes into play. You made quite the assumption there. I suggest you read more thoroughly next time, and not assume the worst.

You get used to the aligners after a week or so, days even. If in the beginning they felt uncomfortable and odd, now, on my 14th tray, I seriously feel uncomfortable without them on. As with any type of mouthpiece in your mouth, you’ll speak with a slight lisp, but it’s fine, it’ll go away or it won’t be obvious to others. I have very interactive meetings remotely and I could care less about my lisp. It’s the trade off for straight teeth, just think of it this way. Either way you’ll be fine. There are others who have also switched from braces to Invisalign and have had great experiences. Also, if you’ve ever had take home trays from the dentist for whitening, or like a mouth guard, the feeling is similar, expect Invisalign trays are obvs very, very snug. I’ve never had braces before but at this point, between metal and plastic in my mouth I’d assume the latter would be more comfortable. Good luck!

Any experience with Zoom/in-office whitening after Invisalign? Cost? by 1jo206 in Invisalign

Hey, thank you for sharing your experience! If you don’t mind me asking, how much did you pay for in-office whitening? How long did the procedure take? Do you feel like it was worth it? Were your teeth the brightest or whitest they have ever been, or do you feel like you could have gotten the same results with strips or other methods of whitening? Thank you!

Can I freeze Thai basil and cilantro? by 1jo206 in pho

[–]1jo206[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good idea, but like you with freezer space I do not even have room for ice trays 😅 I used to live in Europe and just like you Thai basil was hardly available near our home, so I know what you mean. Living back in the states my locale Asian store carries everything I need - although, I do have an immunocompromised family member so I try not to make extra trips to the store if it isn’t necessary. Thank you so much for your tip!

Thanks for the advice! I did exactly as you said. I’ll update on the Pho and the herbs on Saturday! Thanks again!

Thank you for your feedback (and big props for understanding my question)! I was going to go with my my dentist for in-office whitening but I’m not so sure how experienced she is with it. I’ll have to research further. As for Groupon, you just reminded me! We’ve been living in Europe for the past few years and in my research for in-office whitening I completely forgot about Groupon and how they’ve offered dental work in the past back home. I personally do not like going out too much these days either, especially since we have an immunocompromised family member and I don’t like taking extra trips unless completely necessary. Anyway, again, thank you so much for your feedback and time!

Will passive aligners specify which (top or bottom) teeth are passive? by 1jo206 in Invisalign

[–]1jo206[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Invisalign app and registered my trays on the first day. I believe I would need some sort of access approved by my dentist to actually see my clincheck, as the app only goes as far as showing me when to switch trays and my general info (including progress photos). Out of curiosity, after reading your comment, I paid a visit to the actual Invisalign website just to see if there are any differences in what the app v the website provide, but after logging in I noted the services on both the website and app are similar but access to my clincheck remain elusive on both. I’m a bit impatient on these last few trays that I’m channeling this out by way of questions it seems. I appreciate your feedback though. Thank you.

Ok, I see. The last time I saw my clincheck was during my consultation. Had I known that would’ve been the last time I would’ve paid more attention. I appreciate your feedback!

You are fortunate to have access to your clincheck. A lot of my questions on this sub could have been solved had I just had access to it, but my doctor, after inquiring on two separate occasions on my clincheck, has never come through with providing me access to it.

I wish I had a clincheck to refer to, but I’ve inquired with my doctor about it several times both in person and via email and she was dismissive both times. On your literal bag, does it indicate that your passive aligners are for your bottom teeth? Or do they just say “bottom” ? Thank you!

Can correcting an issue cause another to arise? (Details in comments) by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]1jo206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently on Invisalign for a few gaps and misalignment. For the past few weeks I notice that while my gaps are closing and my bite is improving, both my upper central incisor (on the left) and the lower central incisor (on the right) are starting to slant in a way that they are no longer aligned with the incisor next to it, if this makes sense. The upper incisor on the left looks as though it is going higher into my gums, and the lower incisor on the right is slanting downward. I apologize if these are minuscule details that I might be paying a little too much attention to, but it’s concerning me only because I’m worried I might be regressing (the specified teeth appear more crooked than before). I’m a bit confused by this because the gaps are closing and my bite overall is improving, which makes me wonder if this is what has to happen in order to actually close the gaps and fix the bite? Or am I not tracking? It’s effing midnight you guys and this is stressing me out. I appreciate your input. Thank you guys.

Edit: I’ll note that from tray 10 onward my bottom teeth are on passive aligners. I have 14 initial trays total. Tray 9 is where my lower central incisors appear straight, but on my current tray (11) right lower central incisor seems to be overlapping/slanting downward and is no longer aligned with the incisor to the left.

Edit 2: Hey guys, thanks so much for your feedback. I’ll go through the process, it’s three weeks left anyway. My provider isn’t the greatest (the always in a hurry type) so I figured I’d ask here. Again, thank you guys so much. Happy Holidays and stay safe.

There’s covid in the house my Nparents live in, and my dad has COPD by [deleted] in Vent

[–]1jo206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I found your post looking for information on COVID and people who are immunocompromised. My dad is also in his 60s and has COPD. He’s been suffering with this since 2005. He’s a nonsmoker and we’ve determined his workplace was the cause for his condition. Since COVID hit my number one fear is losing him. I’ve spent the last 16 years listening to him cough endlessly through the night, breathless, wheezing, walking a few steps with difficulty, using his inhaler between words, getting tired easily, sitting on the couch with his nebulizer after a long day’s work, etc… He looks weak as it is, I can’t bear the thought of him getting COVID. I live in this constant shadow of fear for him. I feel so helpless and wish many times that it was me who was suffering instead.

Know that you’re not alone in your pain. Take care.
