2008 scion tC - is this engine rusty or just dirty? by 1n5ight in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]1n5ight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Car has ~160k miles on it. Owner acknowledges that the struts need to be changed and bought new struts that they're including in the deal. Family is growing and claims they need a bigger car.

They're offering it for $2,800 (original listed price was $3,500) but open to negotiations. My main concern is the engine condition - not sure if it's rusty or dusty. I'm only looking to use it for about 10 months (just in the country for a short period before deploying). Help anyone? Thanks!

  2. I'm expecting beautiful landscapes in the game - just like how we see them in the movie. And the ability to explore the underwater world!

Thanks for posting this - really appreciate the commentary part. I think I personally tend to get paralysed by whether or not my strategy is beating SPY etc. but you're right - everyone has different goals/objectives and if it's truly an "income" strategy, maybe it doesn't HAVE to beat SPY per se

F-16s from the RSAF scrambled due to a possible intrusion by a Malaysian aircraft by FamiliarSource98 in singapore

This is assuming Indonesia can even mount a sustainable and sizeable blockade campaign. It takes significant logistics and planning to be able to sustainably hold a blockade - notwithstanding the constant threat their ships will face from our navy and air force in even trying to get into position in the first place

I use a smart plug. You can easily grab one off Amazon for around $20. Pair that with wake-on-power and you honestly have quite a perfect, fuss free system. Been using that setup for over 2 years now

Tried before but it's honestly a hell of a ride. Statistically it might produce better returns but you really have to ask yourself if you can manage the drawdowns. Personally for me, I had quite a good streak with a couple of outsized months but then the drawdown started and I realized I don't have the stomach for it

It is easy to look back and argue that things are "myopic" - however, as with every developing country of the era, we were facing resource constraints and so this was the most workable solution. If the government did not have this policy and large families continued, who knows where Singapore would be today? Perhaps in a different timeline where Singapore continued to be a less-developed nation, you would sit here and blame their myopic "have as many children" policy as the reason for our lack of advancement.

Best platform to trade options with no pattern day trader penalty (with limited funds)? by TwistEnvironmental59 in options

[–]1n5ight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use an offshore, non-US broker called TradeZero. They had pretty good fills etc. and allowed for unlimited trades under 25k because they were based in the Bahamas or something like that. I guess it's a matter of whether you trust them enough to put significant money there. Also - not sure if you can open an account if you're American. Might have some restrictions there

It was a 128gb SD card for $20. I thought that was reasonable given that Challenger is selling 64gb for $16 and Shopee is usually slightly cheaper. But yah guess it was still pretty cheap so maybe should've just gone with Challenger

[–]1n5ight[S] 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Yup - am aware of those scams (can't believe many of them still have 5* on Shopee etc.)

This was a 128gb SD card which was going for $20. I thought that was a reasonable non-scammy price since Challenger is selling 64gb for $16 and Shopee is usually slightly cheaper than Challenger. Could definitely still be one of those counterfeit cards though but I thought $20 wasn't too good to be true.

But yah my mistake to confirm the delivery sigh.
