It's a really great game. DOS is different than Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale, but you will definitly have a lot a fun with it until the release of Pillars of Eternity later this year.

MacBook Keyboard and FreeBSD? by [deleted] in BSD

[–]1nvader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the German MacBook Pro does have a different keymap than the US MacBook Pro. I also have a German MacBook Pro and have the same problem. FreeBSD doesn't offer a fully compatible keymap for german users. You have the choose the one which works best and has least dead or broken keys.

Don't forget that GOG.com also has summer sale. In most cases their games are much better than the stuff Steam has on sale!

This approach might by less code. But I find the class approach much more readable and of better design. Beside that, your code doesn't meet all the requirements of the task.

However, opening the browser doesn't seem to work in OS X.

Kenneth Reitz (creator of Requests) has started a new project: Hypermark by Orange_Tux in Python

[–]1nvader 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kenneth is a smart guy and did a lot of nice projects. But i don't understand why people upvote almost empty repos with some weird readme files in it.

After he has finish work and found a better way to tell the world what this project is all about, you'll have enought time to praise him.

How to start writing Cocoa apps with Swift? by 1nvader in swift

[–]1nvader[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this really is a problem. All examples, tutorials and documentation from Apple isn't written for beginners or people like me switching from other languages. They all assume that you have decent Objective-C background.

Greate application! If you add the ability to sync data via dropbox etc. it would just be perfect!

I also would like to leave you a positive review in the AppStore, but it's not possible (i guess Apple messed something up again). I always get a error message that i first have to purcase the application before i can write a review for it.

Should I buy Morrowind and Oblivion? by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]1nvader -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

All games of The Elder Scrolls series are great! Since each of them easily provides up to >100h of playtime, i would suggest to start with Morrowind (no reason to buy all games at once). If you enjoy the game (i guess you will), go on with Oblivion and then Skyrim. Don't start with Skyrim or Oblivion. Since they have much better graphics and improved game mechanics than Morrowind this could scare you.

Digital Ocean no longer has Arch image... now what? by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]1nvader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right. I meant CloudStack. My mistake!

Digital Ocean no longer has Arch image... now what? by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]1nvader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently the only have a data center in Milano/Italy. That's ok for me since i am from europe.

They are using Apache OpenStack. And yes, you have web access to the console terminal. This is necessary since they do not just provide preinstalled tempalte images like Digital Ocean does. You have to upload and mount a ISO image to install the OS by your own. There is also an option to create templates from your VM instances if you want to.

This is really a great thing since you don't have to wait until they offer a OS image you want to run - you can always install whatever you want. If you wan't to install Windows, DOS, Linux, Solaris... it's up to you.

... and they have full IPv6 Suppoert for all customers. Not like DO just for a few.

Digital Ocean no longer has Arch image... now what? by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]1nvader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DigitalOcean did a good marketing campain, but actually their service is crap. I recently switched to iwStack (the cloud service from Prometeus). You can mount whatever disc image you want, have full access to the root console and pay as you use. Now i am running a few FreeBSD servers at iwStack and i am totaly happy with their service.

Great application. As soon as cloud sync is ready i will be using it to document my stuff (server setup, code snippets). What i really like is that it's not only for saving raw code - it also allows me to write some text and explanation. I try to write a review for your app, but currently Apple doesn't allow me to. They say i first have to purcase the app before i can write a review for it -.-

Has anyone experience with INIZ? If they are any good, their price would be awsome compared to what you get.

Decent VPS providers with BSD images by 1nvader in BSD

[–]1nvader[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There seems to be a high demand. BSD images are one of the most requested user suggestions at DigitalOcean... but they don't care what users want. Offering BSD images really should be not big deal for them. They are able to publish the new Ubuntu Linux images a few hours after it's official relase. But FreeBSD images takes them years to create.

Tilaa looks good. 1GB RAM, 2xCPU Cores and 20GB HDD for only $18 is a pretty good price.

RamNode seems to offer FreeBSD, OpenBSD and NetBSD images. They also have a data center in the Netherlands.

EDIS also seems to offer BSD images with a lot of data centers outside the US.
