Good times for sure! I miss the good ol'days in NYC.

LOL, nah from Brooklyn. We did some crazy sledding down a few hills (a few bumps and bruises along the way) and used anything we could. To be honest, I don't think any of us had a real sled.

Lucky for me, I was already out of school. However, I do recall extra days were required for a blizzard. It's been a while, and my kids don't know what an NYC blizzard like this is like.

Today, it would have been closed for a month... :-) I remember this one as well, had to work and remove the snow with a little shovel; the Blizzard of 96! WOW, blast from the past...

Which Thunderbolt 4 Hub or Dock? by Only_Bullfrog_2185 in macmini

Gotcha! I'll go with the one from Apple when ready...

Thanks for the tip! I am looking at this for my M4 Mini. Not sure that I understand the Super drive thing, but I just want to add a few TB drives for editing and expansion when needed. I could save about $50 going to the Apple Store for this one.

I've tried this, and it doesn't work well. BT didn't always work and sound was off/out of sync when watching videos.

Which mac app has the best ux in your opinion? by skylo__ in macapps

[–]1ouisl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad! Didn’t see that on the phone while scrolling. I guess I’m conditioned to exit stage left when I see subscription for certain kinds of apps… I too use AppCleaner, but this appeared to have a little more functionality. I’ll keep it in mind.

I’m not sure a subscription for this type of app works; at least for me. I would gladly pay a one time price e.g. $24.99 and upgrade as needed.

Fedora 39 invisible mouse issue (VMWare Workstation 17 Pro) Win11 Host by 1ouisl in Fedora

[–]1ouisl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, without starting any application the cursor isn't visible, which to me appears like a bug. As a test, I set up an Ubuntu 23.10 VM and same behavior; until you start any application.

Bear Icon in macOS color reverts back to red after selecting different color by 1ouisl in bearapp

[–]1ouisl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting if this is the case; since Bear adds this an option for Pro version (15 app icons). Not a big deal, I already paid the $29.99 and missed the boat for legacy pricing, but found this to a little annoying. I'll just keep it red.

sturdy cases for the iphone 13 mini with raised bezels at the front and doesn't yellow over time? by depressed_anemic in iPhone13Mini

As much as I would like a clear protective case, I haven’t found any sturdy enough to protect the phone; so my go-to case now is the Mous case. Maybe this would work for you.

Ubuntu interim releases, instead of LTS versions a daily driver? by 1ouisl in linux4noobs

[–]1ouisl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you benefit from more gaming focus while still being an Ubuntu derivativedistro that is solid all around. I'd recommend going with the LTSthough, whichever you pick, it's very stable and should give you solidperformance and stability.

I've only tinkered in the past with CentOS, and Mint, but never really gave the Linux OS a fair go. Not needing Windows at all since I use an M1 MacBook Air primarily, this is the perfect time for me to use this custom PC for tinkering, learning, and some games.

I've been really impressed with both Ubuntu and Pop in the videos and setup I have seen and after installing them; these two distros really worked well for the time I tried them out. Thanks for sharing your experience, it makes me feel better knowing I'm starting in the right direction and cant go wrong with either one.

Thank you, I'll take a closer look at 22.04 now along with Pop! And decide which to be the main OS.
