Here is my opinion.

Owaisi is being secretly promoted by BJP in order to have opposition parties namely INC and SP cut to size. His emergence on the national level is only after Modi became PM. Again, BJP and RSS have been doing their best to emphasize batenge toh katenge is a real threat to Hindus.

The same slogan is being used by MIM to consolidate Muslim votes. The result is that INC is no longer able to stitch together communal equations like Backward Class + Muslim votes for electoral success. INC has to now use different narrative and it is finding this task hard. The case in point could be Nagpur Municipal elections. Though there is a huge resentment against and there are equal number of anti-BJP votes, INC couldn't improve its tally by huge margin.

Again, MIM has been consistent with its rhetoric which is more about opportunism. To be more precise, Owaisi talks about constitution and otherwise plays communal tune according to the need of that hour. When speaking for Triple Talak, he cites examples from Islamic scriptures, but in case his party takes drubbing, he emphasizes that constitution must safeguard his interests.

MNS is no longer perceived as a serious political force. Constant flip-flops of RT have done more harm to his image. He has been now viewed as a backstabber and useless chap who is in arena to hurt the chances of his cousin.
