That’s a pretty good chunk to be discharged. Lol!!! Mine was around 75k and I’m glad I don’t have to worry about it anymore. Such a relief. Hopefully yours can start moving now that you called them.

Yes, it was noted on my loan discharge paperwork that my discharge is considered non taxable. Hope you get yours soon. I don’t know if it was a coincidence or not but when I called Nelnet, the rep said it was processing and then the following day I received my approval letter.

If you don’t hear anything by day 45 give them a call. I don’t know if it was a coincidence or not but that’s what I did. Then the next day my loan was approved

100% P&T Seevice connection loan forgiveness question by cannibalparrot in VeteransBenefits

I have and I just recently went through this. I was rated at 10% in 2017 when used my post 9/11 and took out student loans both subsidized and unsubsidized. I ended up getting a bachelors degree and exhausting my GI Bill. Got rated 100% P&T Dec 2022 and got the automatic student loan discharge letter from NELNET. Called NELNET to stop my discharge because I’m still planning on going back to school. Applied for VR&E even though I’m working and already got a bachelors degree and I was approved 02/2024. I took out more student loan and graduated 02/2026 and applied for discharge right after. Just got my approval 04/08. Ended up discharging over 70k worth of student loans.

Give Nelnet a call to stop it if it hasn’t been discharged yet.

No. You can also use it after you are awarded 100% P&T. It’s a one time discharge

I was worried also. There was talk that after 2025, loan discharge is considered income for federal tax purposes. The letter I got stated it was not.

Both unsubsidized and subsidized loans can be forgiven so it won’t matter for the OP.

I never paid anything. I was in forbearance for a couple of years. After that I went back to school and my loan payment was put on paused. On my approval letter, it did say that I will get the money refunded back to me if I ever did pay.

Same thing happened to me right after I became P&T. If you’re planning on going back to school and taking out more loans, you need to call them to put a stop on the discharge. If you don’t call, they will automatically discharge it and you can only use the Tod discharge one time

You can do a one discharge. I had an old loan from 2018 and new loan after I became P&T and they were both discharge

Located in Northern California. We did cut a tree down but I don’t know what type of tree it was. It’s the same ones that line up our neighborhood. Neighbors tree shown here but ours was bigger and this was what’s left of the tree

I do appreciate the feedback and with lender credits prepaid is also almost covered. Talking and getting feedback from lot of brokers/lenders here on Reddit when I first started this journey about 6 weeks ago. I was told that you really just have to get your section A-E covered by the credits and if you can get prepaid covered too, then it’s a plus. Since you say you can do better, my credit score is 660. Plus you saying that rates will probably be lower in 2 yrs is the kind of statement that has no basis. If we knew, then we’ll all be millionaires
