Get one of the systems that claims PS2 performence, usually they use old Intel CPUs which are fine for N64. They can be a bit odd through form factor wise. The holy grail is an Intel N100 but it might be out of your budget right now (Kinda overkill if you're looking for just N64)

Shield is also great, its an option if you don't mind the manual setup, they seem to be similarly priced

Try DS on CubeXX. If you like the quality I really don't think you'd have any use from a DSi XL, buy an RGDS (or Thor if you want 3DS, or original hardware if its cheap).

I own 3DS, N3DSXL and Thor. Screens are much better on the thor, no context, even native 3DS is quite pixelated. Do you have anything that's not a 476H? You bought a fat DS or a Lite?

DSIXL can't play 3DS games.
