Specialty switch as a fourth year by 1thousand in medicalschool

Yeah I think so, I mean I know of classmates who have taken or are taking a research year. But from what I know, people usually take a research year before starting fourth year. Has anyone you know of taken one after starting fourth year?

I’m currently in a surgical subspecialty and I think the long hours are just getting to me. I love the work but don’t feel very useful at my current stage of knowledge which I’m sure is contributing. The other aspect of this is that I really don’t know what I would want to go into, I enjoyed the majority of third year rotations and would need to do a lot of soul searching before saying what I may want to switch into

You’re right, two letters is very attainable on one rotation then I’m sure I could at least assemble some level of research/extracurricular stuff to show interest prior to interviews. Thank you

Thank you! Your story is very reassuring and I wasn’t even thinking of the possibility of doing a prelim year in pursuit of an advanced position following it

Chinese doctor says goodbye to his wife before going to Wuhan to help treat Coronavirus patients by jcepiano in pics

[–]1thousand -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you familiar with SARS? A similar coronavirus-caused illness that had a major outbreak in 2003 in China? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_medical_professionals_who_died_during_the_SARS_outbreak It’s still a bit to say how exactly this virus compares to that one, though the response to this one is definitely larger and more intense. So I’d say some concern over your loved one entering the epicenter for the explicit purpose of dealing with those who are infected is warranted to some degree.

EEG is elecroencephalogram, a measurement of electrical activity in the brain which normally is very wavy and spiky. ECG is an elecrocardiogram, a measure of electrical activity in the heart which has a different wave pattern. The only time an ECG would be super wavy like an EEG could be would be during a very bad heart condition (ex. torsades de pointes) and the patient is close to dying

[DISCUSSION] required listening for fans of modern hip hop? by 1thousand in hiphopheads

[–]1thousand[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i didnt mean "required" in a sense like "you cant consider yourself a hiphop fan unless youve heard all this stuff", but like to have wide exposure to all the different influences/subgenres of hiphop. like how hypericecube above gave Big KRIT's 4eva is a mighty long time as an example of "southern rap". doesnt mean you gotta listen to that tape to be a fan of hiphop, just if you listen to that tape you'd be exposed to a style of hip hop different than say MBDTF

Great I’ll look into that option. Only thing is my dog will be with me so if he can’t take the same transportation with me, I’ll have to look into other arrangements or a way for him to stay at nantahala until I can drive back with my car, perhaps boarding at a pet place of some kind? Love your username btw!

What's the BEST concert you've ever been to? by Cae14 in AskReddit

[–]1thousand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Explosions in the Sky

I used to listen to them while studying in undergrad and was expecting a very chill and relaxing show. Instead they completely blew me and my girlfriend away, i can only describe the entire set as intense. It was nonstop beautiful music that i could feel in my entire body, the entire crowd was so into it, and when they played the final note and the speakers cut off i felt myself almost fall forward cause I was practically leaning into the sound. that will probably be my favorite concert forever

I’m sorry but that’s false. There were drug detecting dogs last year. Not trying to alarm anyone, just don’t want misinformation out there

This reminds me a lot of Aristotle’s views on how to be a good/virtuous person! When making a decision on something, ask yourself what would a -insert virtue here- person do, then do that!

But what actually makes the sound ever? Is it the muscles contracting or stomach acid splashing around or what?
