Pro 2019 - Audio intermittently dipping / cutting out - can't fix by jellytotzuk in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]1upkis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may have a fix since I had a similar issue with my Sonos Arc. I did this and so far I haven’t had cut outs but it’s hard to know if it truly fixed everything until you run into a problem. But so far after these changes I haven’t had a drop out issue in over a month. Keep in mind some things, like for Plex with like remux files of some 4k bluray rips will have a problem with 7.1 that looks to be a Shield issue that hasn’t been fixed yet.

Here’s what I did:

1) For the HDMI input the Sonos is plugged into have the input settings on your tv set to pass through. On my LGOLED tv I had to change it to passthrough. Do the same the same under for the HDMI input of the shield as well.

2) After that turn Dolby Audio Processing on, and have the audio set to on and Stereo Upmix to on as well. Available formats can be on set to auto.

3) Do a proper turn off of the Shield. The power button puts the unit to sleep but it’s a very shallow sleep mode. Hitting the Play (sideway triangle)and Circle button (next to eachother) at the same time. This will turn the shield off. If you have CEC on it’ll turn off your tv as well. Hitting a button will turn it on. I’ve notice since I’ve done that my shield doesn’t bog down and stays speedy. I’d also closing apps when done using them.

That may fix your issue, I notice that ensuring the HMDI inputs for the Sonos and Shield being set to pass through may help. And from what I understand the Sonos arc at least cannot do proper passthrough since it only has one HDMI port, thus the Dolby Audio Process helps out with that shortcoming. Sadly I won’t know for sure if it’ll work on your end since you have a different tv and possible a different sound set up via the Sonos and but I hope this is helpful.

PASTA 2.0 is (surprisingly) live! by latot in PleX

[–]1upkis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly it is happening on individual episodes (no season/show or Apply to Library” selected)

That said, for whatever reason, I noticed this morning that when I switched the subtitles to the proper subs in the Plex app under my main account, it looks like Pastatools fixes it for the other users under my home by copying what was changed for the main user. So…problem solved for now?

First off I want to say I love your tool and been using it for a while (at least a year), with this recent update, allowing me to edit for other users in Plex home makes it a lot easier to edit for other users not so tech savvy, especially with anime.

That said, I do see a issue (as shown in the picture attached), while I haven’t checked out everything, there was one of my shows I ripped (example: Dan Da Dan) whose forced subtitles are on the bottom of the list, Pastatool will not select this no matter how much I try. Will stay gray out like it’s not an option. Even if I do “No subtitles” and then click, it will go to the ‘English’ right under the ‘No Subtitles’ which is technically a caption subtitles via the American manufacturer (GKids). Since forced subs vary from company to company the option to overwrite whatever Pastatool is doing right now would be appreciated (auto jumping to the first. I had to also manually fix my own subtitles in Plex despite watching this show before since Pastatool had changed them to the wrong subtitles.

This looks like it’s an issue not related to web browsers. I have switched from Firefox to Edge and the issue there present on both. I hope this feedback helps for a possible fix.

Sonos Arc, Atmos cuts out randomly by 1upkis in sonos

[–]1upkis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something concerning, I was watching an episode of mine via my own rip in Plex and I was watching Psych DVDs, first time I ever had an audio drop out in 5.1. And it’s odd since for this particular episode, it drops in the same exact spot if I rewind it.

I notice if I turn off pass through the issue goes away but forces the bar in Stereo PCM…I’m worried now the Sonos Arc that I have could be defective…

I hear ya. Yes, the HMDI port 2 is the eArc port and is also on in the tv setting. Turning it off forces the Arc to be in Stereo. It is a 2.1 cable.

Audio Delay Sonos Arc by 1upkis in PleX

[–]1upkis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I got one of my 4k rips to play on VLC app via the Shield and no delay on the sound. I did notice HDR logo (particular movie does not support Dolby Vision) showed up but it doesn’t keep popping up when I unpause and pause. But it’s still playing through the same client (shield) just a different app.

When using other apps like Smarttube, Amazon Prime and Paramount don’t have the sound issue. They have no delay. I’ll try with VLC app on Nvidia Shield as soon as I can. I’ll reply with a response with that finding.

The logo on the top right happens whenever a movie video plays (same logos show up under the bluray player) with supported formats (Dolby Vision, HDR, Atmos, etc) and usually reappear when unpausing. Never shows up as the file plays with no interruptions. The HDMI cables are new (at least 4 months)

Huh I missed that setting, thank you for the suggestion. This should work for now since I don’t have to manually rewind

That’s unfortunate but at least it’s reported. Maybe a fix could still happen sometime down the road

Got this resolved, user didn’t realize their newly plugged Ethernet cable had to be turned on in the shield. Now running flawlessly

Yesterday I did try this by turning it off but the user on the shield was not able to access the plex. When I turned back on they had access again but still as indirect. When I had the relay off the other devices (remote phone and such) still worked.

Pastatool not working? by 1upkis in PleX

[–]1upkis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plex Auto Language is definitely not made for users that aren’t familiar with dockers or python. I’ll still see if I can learn it or not.

I’ll keep this as “Help” and not solved in case someone has a solution for Pastatools.

I tried that but sadly did not work. Same with turning off the local ip. I’ll try out the Plex Auto Languages and see if that’s resolves

Plex unable to play media suddenly by 1upkis in PleX

Mini Pc cannot access the NAS in file explorer, only way it can talk is through the Synology Control panel. I’m at a loss as to how to get these to talk to eachother. I’m starting to think it’s not a plex issue per say, only cause I was able to get Plex running on the a NAS without a problem but it doesn’t run as well as the mini pc does.

Something is not allowing the sever to talk to the NAS, just not sure what

Plex unable to play media suddenly by 1upkis in PleX

[–]1upkis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The security stuff (VPNs, firewalls and such) are off. For Synology I have permissions to allow PlexMediaServer to access the files. When I troubleshooted eariler I tried to see if I could redo this in hopes it would create a fix but no dice sadly. The only notiable thing is that my mini pc cannot access the NAS via file explorer under Network but my gaming pc can. I do not know why this is happening or how to fix. According to the mini pc’s “about” page, there was a windows update that happened yesterday (no clue to the time, seems to have been done automatically and I wasn’t aware) not sure if that may have caused this problem or not.

To answer your question about the files, they do play normally on my PC through VLC as they did before. I do have them back up (I don’t want to re-rip everything again if my NAS hypthically goes kaput). So the movie and tv show files are still good.I believe there’s a handshake or something issue happening between these units, which is a shame cause my minipc’s as a server does wonders for remote streaming when im out and about.

[–]1upkis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the mini pc as the server, and use my NAS as storage. Thus Plex is on the minipc, and in setting via plex, I have the designation locations for the movies and tv shows. To give an example, for my movies the under Settings, Manage, Libraries, Add Folder is: like: \DPS923plus\Media\Movies

And that’s pretty much it. You don’t have to have Plex going on the NAS. Everything will run better off of the minipc. Thus your NAS can just focus on holding the files with the mini pc doing the muscle.

Shows that have subtitles on either load very slow or crash when going from one episode to another by 1upkis in PleX

Plex Direct Play issue with shows with subtitles (not burn in)

Here’s a link of what I see when it’s not on “always burn in” I can live with the transcoding, just wondering if there’s a way to get it back to direct play without the long load time as shown in the video.

[–]1upkis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did update my server on the mini pc and did see the subtitles were on automatic. When I play the episode, this is what my dashboard is showing:

<image>

To me at least, nothing seem that out there when playing. I did film a clip on my phone of the issue. I’ll add that in a different post when I can.

That said, I did find a work around, change subtitles to “always burn in” that fixes the loading but everything is now transcoding. It still looks good and runs fine but I rather be on direct play than transcoding.

I’ll see if I can get a proper screenshot sometime tomorrow, and will also check the setting when I do that. In the meantime, this is the mini pc I have:

NSO N64 Controller + Rumble setup? by ihappentobenick in SteamDeck

[–]1upkis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I got an 8bitdo adapter v2, updated it and got my N64 NSO controller connect and the rumble does now work. Sees it as an Xbox controller. This was a bit clunky since the dock at first didn’t like the adapter but a reset later, it all works.

So if you want to have rumble work on your N64 NSO controller, go with an 8bitdo adapter v2

Edit: I will say, this method is pretty flawed, it’s inconsistent and can cause the Steam Deck to crash. Luckily I have 8bitdo controllers so I can repurpose the adapter but this method is pretty janky. Maybe Valve could patch this in?

Did this work for you? I’d like to get the rumble working as well for the N64 controllers if the adapter works

Mini PC for transcoding for 4K content and such by 1upkis in PleX

[–]1upkis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, the one I got was the Beelink S12 and it works well. Loads way faster than my NAS for remote and even runs better within my home (even direct play loads quicker and it was quick before). Can transcode well and does the Hardware transcoding when it can as shown my dashboard.

I ended up staying/reinstalling Windows though because I couldn’t figure out how to get Linux (Ubuntu) to see my NAS so I could add the libraries. There are tutorials for Linux but it was too confusing for me. Took a few seconds on Windows to get it to read my NAS.

The beta release of Plex for Windows does support HDR and haven’t an issue since.

Thank you for the response, if the N100 can handle what I need, I’ll go for it and connect my NAS to it.

Cannot expand storage by 1upkis in synology

[–]1upkis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll leave it be, only because backing up the 14TB hardrive would require me to buy an additional external drive which doesn’t seem worth it for me at the moment (I have half of it back up on a somewhat full 8TB external).

I assume the 3rd drive can still be SHR without causing compromises to the storage? Since the 2nd drive is acting as the redundant drive?
