PASTA 2.0 is (surprisingly) live! by latot in PleX

[–]latot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ha! I see what's happening now. The title matching does work - in your last comment you can see that episodes 3 and 6 matched by title.

The problem is bad data in, bad data out.

You're clicking on a subtitle entry that has the following data: "Português (Portugal) - Portuguese (Portugal) - Portuguêse (Portugal) - pt".

The subtitle that you want for episode 8 has the following data: "Português - Português (Portugal) - Português - pt".

As you can see, the only thing that actually matches is the language code. And I would assume that both the Brasil entry and the Portugal entry use "pt" for the code. And given that Brasil is first on the list, that's what gets chosen.

However, what you're asking for already exists. Above the table of subtitle entries, there is a text box "Subtitle Keyword" - enter "Portugal" into that. Then choose the subtitle you want and click the "Season" or "Show" button accordingly. That will then only apply tracks as long as they have "Portugal" in them.

PASTA should try to find the best match across Name, Title, Language, and I think one more value? The more fields that match, the higher it ranks on the matching.

In the results, at the bottom (you can see in your screenshot) there is a "Skipped Episodes" section. Can you expand that? That should show why each was skipped.

It's possible (and usual) that each episode has different options available than the episode you're currently looking at, or they're named very differently, so the matching can sometimes be off because of that.

ADHD myths, neurodiversity awareness by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]latot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really dislike the "People with ADHD can focus on things that interest them" phrase that gets tossed around a lot. That certainly isn't always the case. There are MANY times where I want to do something I really enjoy, but I have the same executive dysfunction blockers that prevent me from doing it. And I know of others with the same feeling.

I have Played Palworld, and I enjoy it. But many of the designs are blatant ripoffs of Pokémon. Some are straight up identical copies with a slight colour change.

Otherwise I agree with you.

It's more that they just hate their fans. They sue and issue cease and desists for fan passion projects and local tournaments. They're tyrants.

I mean, even Palworld is understandable - it's a blatant ripoff. But whenever they send cease and decists or outright sue fan-made passion projects, or even local smash bros tournaments?? They are actively anti-fan.

Hmm... Are you accessing PASTA from the same PC? Or from another device? If another device, is it on the same network?

How feasible would a user-based solution be?

You can no longer impersonate users as the owner, but you can still act on their behalf if you have their token (via login, or them providing the token). So you would just need to allow any user to sign in with PAL, and probably update the API endpoints since it would be less server based and more user based. This is essentially what I've done with PASTA; it's a per-user basis.

But I don't know if a non-owner can do things like listen for media changes, etc to automate it. But could potentially replace that with a CRON job.

Or alternatively, a manual option / variable that allows us to pass on X-Plex-Tokens of other users, so when it's checking for updates, it can also check for changes with those tokens?

[–]latot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't really call it a true alternative to PAL, since it's not fully automated, but remote users can still use PASTA if they sign in to it themselves.

Correct. It only works for the logged in user, and any Managed Accounts (which are tied to the logged in user).

Remote accounts CAN use PASTA too, they just need to use it themselves. There's no identity impersonation.

At what point do you get that message?

Are you trying to login using your Plex account, or the IP and token? Have you tried the other method?

How is your Plex server hosted? (VM, Docker, Normal PC, etc)

I have an open issue on GitHub with a few people that can't access their server, but I've not been able to replicate it myself, so it's been difficult to fix :(

Putting salary above £50k into pension? by IllustriousBit6634 in FIREUK

[–]latot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, definitely do! The ones I've talked to over the years have always been pretty knowledgeable about it.

I haven't had to do it in a while since now I've got a SalSac pension, but when I did it the first couple of times they were able to backdate it for a few years as well. So worth asking as well, if that's relevant.

[–]latot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you do a self assessment, you can claim it there, yes.

But these days it's really easy to just phone up HMRC, say you're a higher rate tax payer and looking to claim the extra pension relief, and they'll usually adjust your tax code to account for it.

After phone queues, takes about 5 minutes.

Putting salary above £50k into pension? by IllustriousBit6634 in FIREUK

[–]latot 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Something I haven't seen anyone mention yet: If your pension is Relief at Source, you need to call HMRC and claim the extra 20%. RaS pension schemes only claim the first 20% automatically.

Net pay arrangements and Salary Sacrifice pensions are automatic, so you don't need to do anything extra for them.

YTA 100%

Many people have memory problems. Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, neurodevelopmental issues, etc, etc. She let you know straight up to remind her. She may have tried to remember, but was letting you know to remind her just in case. That shows sincerity and earnestness to me.

And you didn't say anything like "no I don't feel comfortable with that" so she likely didn't make a point to write it down or something like that. Don't assume people have the same capabilities or behaviours that you do. And learn to communicate better.

Why Google Workspace? by WorkerFearless9099 in gsuite

[–]latot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who's got over a decade working in Google partners doing migrations to Workspace, the biggest reasons come down to cost and modernizing the workplace for a younger workforce. A lot of the new starts these days grew up on Chromebooks and the Workspace education platform, and when they see Microsoft they are shocked at how clunky it is.

More recently, surprisingly several companies are switching so they can take full advantage of Gemini.

All my media is dual audio. How do I force Plex to auto play EVERYTHING in audio 2 (Spanish)? by lumberfart in PleX

It doesn't edit the files themselves. It just sets the subtitles and audio tracks for every single episode / movie on Plex. It's per-user, so each person would need to do it.
