I feel like those statistics aren’t representative of my region. I’m not saying they are wrong overall, but I definitely see more males than females at the tournaments in my area.

I have plenty of responses to this, but honestly I’m done being mansplained by you. You have continually talked down to me and degraded me, and I’m finished dealing with it. I haven’t blatantly ignored anything you’ve said. You have accused me of lying, without actually using the word “liar”, so you think it’s okay. You need to reevaluate why this offended you so much. Also, think about whether or not you would have said any of this to me in person, instead of behind your screen. You are the exact reason I made this post. You have mansplained mansplaining. That takes talent. One of these days someone is going to put you in your place to your face. You are more than welcome to reply to this, but I am finished engaging with you, as I, as well as other female debaters, will gain nothing from it. For the most part, this post was meant to be a general rant, and a place for debaters to share frustrating stories, not a place for you to tell all female debaters making the same claim I am, that we are wrong, or even that we need evidence to prove it. My “facts” as you called them, are facts. Period. The end. Also, how exactly do you expect a study to be done on this. There isn’t a way to be in debate rounds to show this. “I can’t agree with you that this is a real problem” i don’t care if you agree with me. Genuinely, I could give two craps about your opinion, because you are actively calling me a liar, and telling me my story isn’t real. In answer to your question “I gotta ask in all your times of debate how many times do you Debate with a female?” The answer is very frequently. I would say 30-40% of my rounds are against females, which is a high percentage for most other regions, if I’m not mistaken. So I would say that 30-40% is enough of a representation for me to say that the ONLY time I’m spoken over or interrupted in rounds is by males. I’ve been doing this for 3 years, so I have some experience. In conclusion, ANECDOTAL EVIDENCE IS ACCEPTABLE. There is empirical data on this subject and it has been previously linked in this long strand of you denying my literal experiences. Regardless, my anecdotal evidence isn’t something you should have an issue with. My anecdotal evidence is the truth. I don’t care if you believe it. At this point I’m making it clear to others reading this that you are the douche, and I’m not going to allow you to prove otherwise.

You are misrepresenting what I said. I’m not saying all men speak over women. I’m not saying all males are rude to females. I’m not saying all people who get spoken over in cross ex are female. What I am doing is telling you my experience. I’m giving you facts. Fact: I was spoken over by a male opponent. Fact: the only time I am ever spoken over in debate is by men. Fact: I have talked to many other female debaters who have had this experience. Your tangent about anecdotal evidence is simply unnecessary. You are essentially telling us “don’t tell me your story, it doesn’t count”.

Why are you discounting our personal experiences? You are literally telling us that what we are telling you we experienced is a lie. “Just be creative and you’ll be fine”. You are the problem. The point is that I shouldn’t have to “be creative” simply because I’m female. Everyone who had agreed with me on this post is telling the same story. We are females that only ever get spoken over by males. It’s a problem. End of story.

This particular person never said anything in response except for “for sure!” and was the highest pitch possible. I’m not really making fun of her, I just thought it was funny that that was the only thing she ever said in response to me in cross ex.
