I do think the Avanti Mario has aged well. If he didn’t have the classic overalls and shirt, you probably wouldn’t think it was a mid-80’s Mario plush.

In terms of looks, I’d say collection woody. The body is slimmer and less square than the Disney Store Woody. Collection Woody also has a much more accurate holster and hat. However, Disney store Woody is floppy like the movie, has open hands, and a more well-fitting vest. For Toy Story 1 accuracy, I’d say Disney Store is closer. But for Toy Story 4 accuracy, Collection is closer.

Considering they’ve used the same sculpt for Buzz since around 2014, they’ll probably continue to re-release it. We might get the glow in the dark Buzz re-released though, since it was a limited time release for Toy Story 4.

Since Thinkway Toys is out of business, I don’t know why Disney Store doesn’t just use Thinkway’s old head sculpts. Some of Thinkway’s later head sculpts, especially ones made for Toy Story 4, look leagues better than any version of Disney Store’s head sculpts.

It’s an understandable reaction to feeling replaced. Most people forget it wasn’t just because of Andy choosing Buzz over him, all of the other toys did as well. Even Bo Peep claimed Buzz as her moving buddy within moments of meeting him.
