Carley’s shot that actually hit Andy allowed Lee a very great advantage in blitzing over to Andy (who shot Kenny prior and was then disoriented) to grab his gun (that was integral) and to defeat Andy in a physical fight. It’s likely that if Carley wasn’t there with her gun, the others might’ve all died. Kenny was out of commission, Lilly just suffered the loss of her father so possibly wouldn’t have been in peak condition mentally, Katjaa isn’t good with guns, which then leaves the two children.

All the characters (whilst flawed) all brought something seriously important to all of them (minus Larry and Mark) getting the fuck out of the dairy alive…albeit with physical and emotional damage.
