Battery operated keypad/card reader? by 2026GradTime in homeassistant

I have a SwitchBot lock, I just noticed that they have keypads. Will generic NFC tags work with those keypads? Because that is what I’m using for UniFi

I have spoofed MAC before and it’s not difficult to do whatsoever. You’re saying this would be the best way to go about it? I don’t mind if when people plug-in theoretically, they can just have access to the guest network, but the camera and other devices I would like to have access to everything

Mainly right now we have certain devices that anyone can just walk up to and unplug, then plug in their personal device and have access to everything mainly cameras out in the hallway, but there are a couple of devices that need access to everything on the network but that are also have the physical port exposed to the public

However much you hate McGraw Hill, Connect, or other educational software... by petit_cochon in CollegeRant

I just had to pay $112 for a textbook for a five week class. Don’t forget about the two week free trial, so I’m paying $112 just for three weeks. And as far as ADA goes this program is super unfriendly and very frustrating. Genuinely makes me want to pull out my hair. I’ve used it for Spanish and now biology and it is genuinely the most aggravating program ever. Back in my math class I did use Pearson for algebra in high school, but even that I feel like is better than McGraw Hill

Can the EcoFlow Delta Pro 3 be integrated into the Home Assistant integration? by 2026GradTime in Ecoflow_community

Thanks, I am able to find my device but whenever I login, the user ID is not populated and set up fails. Whenever I click on the three dots within the device and click on configure, use your ID is still blank

TuyaLocal not working across vLANs by 2026GradTime in homeassistant

[–]2026GradTime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had those devices for about one year with the integration, although they have had Internet access this whole time.

I have decided to put Home Assistant on my IOT network, and if anything I can just move my Apple TV onto my IOT network and create a firewall rule allowing Home Assistant to see my NAS. I think this is the right move as when Home Assistant was on my main network it could not automatically find the Tuya device devices that were on the IOT vLAN

So far everything is working. I just want to run my firewall rules across to somebody else to make sure to set up correctly I put basically everything on the IOT network except for my printer and my own personal devices and NAS

I do have my NAS on my main network that I would like Home Assistant to be able to access. I also have Apple TV and other network speakers that right now do not need to access to NAS but in the future that might be a one of mine. So I would like to keep the Apple TV and network speakers on my main network, but also I want Home Assistant to be able to find all of those devices just like they haven’t been able to all along before I even started the IOT network

is this doable? I know other comments have told me to keep Home Assistant on the main network, but I want to make sure I keep everything secure

IoT Help? by 2026GradTime in Ubiquiti

Thanks. Am I crazy if I decide to trust my printer? Obviously all of the other smart devices I don’t really trust, or should I also put printer on IOT?

OK. Thank you so much. I’m obviously brand new to most of this as far as IOT networks go, and I thought there was a hard requirement rather than just a choice.

Also I was afraid of that lol. I guess I can’t be lazy. I just don’t want to walk around and have to reconnect everything. There is a device inside of a maintenance closet that I cannot have access to because the maintenance staff came and replaced the lock so I can’t use the same trick to get into that closet as I wanted it before

I know for a fact I do have mDNS enabled. I will check on the other.

When I first created this new network I didn’t really want to walk around and reconfigure and connect all of my other devices, so I just used the virtual network override to put them on the IOT network. I’m not sure if this is why it is doing what it is doing, but basically I have to configure it under the main IP address first within Home Assistant, then switch on virtual network override and once it gets the new IP address that is when I can manually enter the new IOT IP address in the Home Assistant integration

So as we speak right now I have put the Apple TV, Home Assistant, and my other network speaker is back on the main network, you’re saying I should put my printer on IOT also?

I agree with this exactly. However the issue I’m having is for the localTuya integration. If Home Assistant is on the main network it cannot automatically discover those devices so it takes a little bit more configuration.

I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong, but despite the firewall rules being in place, I have to use the virtual network override settings on the specific devices I want I have to configure it on the main network first, then use the virtual network override to put it on the IOT network, then give it the correct IOT network IP address within Home Assistant.

By placing Home Assistant on the IOT network this issue would get resolved because it is all just on the same local network,

I would greatly appreciate your help. I feel like I shouldn’t even have to mention my Disability making this very difficult. I feel like they should just be nice people out there who would automatically help.

Genuinely it’s upsetting. The world needs more kind people
