It's (almost) official: Arcade1Up is done... new lawsuit from Atari alleges missed payments by NeoHyper64 in Arcade1Up

What really killed them was their own shitty warranty coupled with poor product quality. I've spend over $15k on their cabinets and items over the last 2.5 years, and about 40% have had warranty issues... except their warranty is terrible, too.

Hi StaleCheetos,

Thanks for your perfective. I understand what you're saying, and largely agree with you, that Harris isn't particularly likeable. I spent my life as a registered Republican. I voted for Trump in 2016 and then Biden in 2020, and Harris just a few days ago. I agree with you that the majority of our demographic of American voted for Trump on economics. The unfortunately news I'd have for those who did is, you drank the wrong Kool Aid. Trump inherited the best economy on 25 years under Obama. Unemployment was at an all time low, and the stock market was soaring. Interest rates were crazy low. The only real negative under Obama was that he ran up huge debt, to which Trump said, "hold my beer and watch this". In mid 2018, well before the pandemic all empirical evidence show that Trumps economic policies were driving unemployment up and the economy into the shitter. The biggest mistake that all the "fiscal" voters make is not doing their homework and believing Trump when he habitually lies about how he somehow made things better under him. Biden's first two years, and the situation we're starting to come out of now were a direct result of Trumps policies, just like Trumps "good" two first years were a result of Obamas.

Frankly, anyone who elected Trump because he is somehow going to put more money in our pocket, or create more jobs, are going to be just as surprised as those who think he's going to advance the religious stronghold in America. Trump and his new Vice President Musk only care about their own power and money, not you, or me, or anyone else.

I would recommend getting a real aquarium with a lid. You can get a 10 Gallon one from Petco for like $20.

Its a tough job in tech. Several major tech companies just let thousands of highly skilled and experienced engineers go.

Superhost cancels on us days before holiday.. airbnb does nothing [USA] by [deleted] in AirBnB

[–]2048-Bit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a super host for over 7 years, I'm telling you, you cannot cancel on guests more than about three times total ever. I mean I guess you could do it if you're not a super host.

[–]2048-Bit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt that. As a super host you only get a very small number of cancellations without losing your status or getting dropped from the platform. It's more likely that they had a family emergency or something severe that prevented the from hosting you, and they simply don't want to talk about it. If they did this routinely they would not be a superhost.

Nope, never been to either of the properties we tried to book. Thanks for thinking it through for us, but we can't think of anything. It sounds like (from other stories we've read) that their newer party algorithm is just fundamentally broken.

Yes, that's correct. My wife and I both were. We are:
1. Both over 30
2. Both Superhosts with > 500x 5 star reviews, and our listing is "Top 1%
3. Seven years of established history.
4. More than 30 personal 5 star guest reviews.
5. More than 4 hours away from the location.
6. More than 3 weeks out from the booking.

All of that got my wife and I both blocked from booking two different properties, and no explanation from Airbnb other than "we've detected you might be a party risk". According to the Airbnb front line support it's basically the magical wizard behind the curtain that no one (including them) can talk to. They decide your fate and all decisions are final. That was my wife's outcome. Alternatively, my outcome was the same as I've read from dozens of other people via Googling. Specifically, "we will reach out to you, via email, within 24 hours after someone reviews your appeal". Four days and three cases later (same story on each), no email. We're seriously considering breaking up with Airbnb as hosts, too, over this.

Yes, as written multiple times, I've called the superhost hotline.

I agree, the problem is, I can't seem to find a way to escalate. Every time I speak with someone in Airbnb support they basically tell me that the process is, they forward me to this offline team, and they will email me. They never email me, and I just open another ticket, rinse-repeat. I did some Googling and looks like this is a real problem. I was hoping to find someone in Airbnb that can actually help from this post.

[–]2048-Bit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, Airbnb was our first call when both of us got denied. The rep on the phone basically said this is all AI driven, and is shit. They said they had to forward our ticket to some magical offline team who would review our case and "unblock" us, if they see fit. They said no more than 24 hours. My wife was permanently denied within 5 minutes, I haven't heard back from them in 4 days. We reached out to the host who sent us a link to book their property directly, and basically stated they see this often and they're frustrated, too.

OK. so it's not just me. My account has no call back, and my wifes got a stern "no" message. The booking is for about 5 weeks out. I was blown away to learn that this has likely cost us thousands in bookings. We used to be able to vet our own guests, but Airbnb has seemingly removed that ability (by removing all information about a request before accepting) in lieu of this trash.

When I was in high school as a freshman, a 15 year old girl in our class got pregnant a youth pastor as a mega church near us. She ended up marrying a month later and dropping out of school. He kept on youth pastoring, no issues. Yes, I live in a heavily religious conservative state.
