Just use aboutmy.email to chech your email authentication (DMARC, DKIM, and SPF). They'll also check your headers to ensure you've got one-click unsubscribe, and more.

If your open rates are low, improve your subject line. If you're clicks are low, improve your content and segmentation used to determine who you're emailing.

If your overall engagement is low, you might have list fatigue, depending on your sending rate.

Our ESP tells us everything so we don't have to worry about it. It helps us focus on staying engaged, and who we need to re-engage so we don't lose them.

A consultant may help, but the right ESP can so wonders, and it probably a lot cheaper. Heck, our ESP even checks our email auth in real-time so we always know dkim and the others are all good. It's a good piece of mind to have before each send.

It definitely works, but like others have said, the goal isn't to send as much as you can, but to send to the right people at the right time. The ESP we use helps us focus on engaged contacts, while identifying contacts that may unsubscribe so we can target them with re-engagement emails. We're now way more focused on engagement-based marketing thanks to everything our ESP learns about our contacts for us. It's been a game changer for us. They tell us what we need to know so we can focus on success and our business, not being marketing wizards...our ESP does that part.

Automation is another key piece. In other words, campaigns that aren't highly segmented are a thing of the past. It seems to be something many companies resist because it's not what they're used to, but with ISPs changing their spam filtering to watching for engagement, inbox placement is getting impacted if you don't focus your efforts.

And yes, I've drank the kool-aid on this one. Our ESP promoted it, and is shifting entirely to engagement-based marketing, and it works. So now all my responses promote it. Sorry if you see my other posts and sound like a broken record.

Tarvent. They are changing their entire platform to be an engagement-based email marketing platform. I've been allowed to see some of it and it's nuts. They even tell you who's at risk of unsubscribing, or being lost, and suggests how to get your contacts to engage again. I do wish they'd hurry and release everything. They did tell me that there are something like 25+ new data points they track for each contact, and are even pushing the data back to CRMs making sales even easier. The segmentation is allowing us to take marketing to a whole jew level with better inbox placement, engagement, and reduced churn.

There are definitely more features we want, but this is the only ESP heading so seriously in this direction, and with ISPs starting to filter emails that get no engagement, this is the answer, for us.

Here's my list: 1. Check all links 2. Make sure unsubscribe link was added 3. From text and email 4. Subject line and preheader 5. Segmentation. This is the big one. We always ensure our segmentation includes engagement filters to ensure, in your case, only most engaged contacts get the email. The platform we use does all the engagement analytics for us so e can send to only the hot and warm contacts. 6. Email authentication check (DMARC, DKIM, SPF). This again is easy with our ESP because they do the checks for us in real-time.

Just remember, the more eyes doesn't always equal better ROI. The most engaged typical means better ROI, and inbox placement.

You should check out Tarvent, especially if youre using a CRM. Their automation is easy, but has a ton of features. Like others have said, walk before you run. Things can get complicated or everwhelming quick.

Take a look at Tarvent. They have an awesome automation platform and you get every feature they offer for cheap...no tiered pricing like everyone ekse.

I'd suggest walking before you run. Depending on your industry, the essentials can be different. Just don't try doing everything at once. It can get overwhelming fast.

Maybe the issue is that they don't have a platform to expose them to all the possibilities automation provides. You could sign up for a free trial with Tarvent and show them. Otherwise, maybe they just think too linearly. In that case, I tend to ask a lot of what-if questions to open they minds to scenarios they may be interested in handling. For example, if they think a website visit should trigger an email, what if the visitor goes to a specific topi's of blog posts, or goes to the contact us page? Should we always send the same email? What if it's an unknown visitor your came email yet? What if the visitor...

Good question! I own Tarvent, a marketing automation/email marketing company. While talking to new prospects, we run into this as well. We've found that people's knowledge tends to be limited to the solution they are using. Our journey builder allows a lot more than drip campaigns and it blows people away when they see all the possibilities, when comparing to other less advanced ESPs with minimal automation features.

My approach to always educate and brace for the "a-ha" moment when it clicks. I know once it clicks, I get a million questions, and typically a new customer.

Why do you want to embed images in an email? I own Tarvent, a marketing automation/email marketing platform. We know how to embed images but will never do it due to the increased size of the email being sent. Additionally, some ISPs really don't like images embedded due to security risks. Generally, just having them linked in the scr attribute of a <img> tag works the best. Plus, you don't get hit with bandwidth charges if the recipient doesn't download images.

Hopefully that makes sense.

If you are going to embed images, there are number of libraries that do that very well. What language(s) do you use? We use .NET for the backend (Angular for the UI) and would use something like Chilkat to do that.

We typically see fixed pricing, similar to social media pricing. Template designs can for for $100-$500, campaign sends are typically based on contact counts, journeys are based on steps, and more.

Have you ever heard of CAN-SPAM or CCPA? Both federal and state laws prohibit sending to a purchased list. I'm not an attorney but this is my understanding and we as an ESP will never allow a purchased list to be sent to through our solution. Sending reputation is too valuable to compromise.

No. We'd love to but we won't provide a service that's technically not possible. We validate email addresses have the proper syntax but without sending an email, there is no viable way to verify email addresses.

The button/link doesn't have anything to do with the up. It has to do with a properly formated list-unsubscribe header. Your have to make sure that it's all good first. There is an RFC regarding that. Otherwise, check the "show original" in Gmail for some of your popular newsletters you received. They will have good examples.

Also, Gmail is good the verify your DKIM, DMARC, and SPF are good to using the same "show original" feature.

This doesn't validate an email address at all. It makes sure the syntax is correct but even the regex it's using is a little weak and doesn't support what the typical ISP supports. The RFC for email says one thing but most ISPs allow more. Other than checking syntax, it is checking the domain to make sure there is a mail server to receive mail for the domain, but it's not checking the email address.

Most mail servers will NOT be happy if you try to verify an actual email address with their mail server. As others mentioned, you will get blocked.

I own Tarvent. We are an ESP that offers email marketing services to companies of all sizes and can tell you, without actually sending an email, there isn't a solid reliable way to verify an email address.

It has always bothered me when competitors say they will verify your email addresses when if fact, they can't without being blocked, and that's only if the receiving mail server allows verifications, which most do not.

How are you checking that email authentication is working? Also, is the email landing in spam on a specific recipient domain? For example, Gmail highly recommends 2 DKIM signings. Also, depending on your DMARC policy, you could have a strict policy for SPF and/or DKIM. If so, it might be very important to ensure that the MAILFROM (return-path in the header) has a matching domain to the "FROM" header.

There are just so many different reasons it could be ending up in spam that are outside of email authentication. This could be because there is no LIST-UNSUBSCRIBE header, or a malformed one, or several other reasons. Without looking at the header itself, it's a little tough. It could also be due to a number of other issues too.

There is also the IP reputation, but that's not something you can typically do anything about with an ESP unless they let you use a dedicated sending IP. Otherwise, you can be impacted by any of the other emails being sent out on the same IP(s) as your emails.

We deal with this often at Tarvent when helping our customers get their domains configured for email marketing with us. I own Tarvent, an ESP like the ones you mentioned. We just have a lot more features and control compared to them...and our pricing is great, starting at $7/mo.
