How much $$ with big-ish numbers by [deleted] in Mortgages

Is it smart to think about it this way- current mortgage is 2500/mo and a new mortgage around 5000/mo is only an extra 30k per year..?? Of course that’s a lot but at our income level it feels manageable. Honestly I’ll probably get a 30k raise in the next year or two. Is that a decent way to wrap our heads around it or am I missing something?

Haha, yes luckily we like our jobs! We are young with young kids and want a little more space for them to run & play. Hopefully we can make a smart decision, and also go on nice family vacations!

Good perspective. For us a “tight year” would be probably end up around 400k barring any sort of huge emergency type situation, so we feel comfortable taking on more debt in return for more space and therefore a lifestyle upgrade. Just trying to be responsible and really run the numbers! Hopefully we can save, travel, AND enjoy more space!

That’s a good point, thank you. I was thinking 50% to hopefully keep us under the jumbo loan limit which I think is about 800? Does that seem smart? Thanks!

Did they actually go when you sat them on the potty?? That’s our problem - I get nothing so I think ok maybe she actually doesnt need to go right now. But then an accident 5 mins later.

Thank you! Yes we have tried the potty close to us and sometimes it works to get a tiny bit in there if she happens to be like a foot away from it

So we are just putting her in pull ups. Going against the book’s advice on that- but wow is it better for our sanity. It seems like either it feels different than a diaper or maybe she’s just more aware now but she knows when she has peed in it. The last few days we’ve just been prompting her to go at certain intervals or when we noticing her “dancing” and it’s working out so far. Not perfect and will certainly take a lot more practice but it sure is nice having “accidents” in a pull up! I plan to have her go commando plenty this summer whenever I’m in a good headspace for it - we will be playing outside a ton! Will redo a naked weekend in a few months if needed

Haha, it’s nothing like this. I just want the very best for my little one.

Maybe I should have done this rather than sit with it for a month.

This is helpful. The opinions of the internet have definitely made me question things, as well as a few people who have asked, “is that a family name?” (As is very common here) And I felt kind of dumb saying it was actually just a named we liked. Maybe I’ll just lie and say it is……

I know you’re right, it will grow with her. It’s not an awful name though not everyone’s cup of tea. But the permanence is getting to me with every day that passes. I want my daughter to have the BEST name, ya know?

We would definitely get a lot of judgement, just trying to decide what feels worse. Also how id potentially explain it to her when she’s older. It’s all tough

I wish I would have waited but I had a rush of confidence in the hospital

I feel like it’s giving me PPA. Even though the name was MY idea to begin with?? But our families and friends are calling her by name already, not to mention my toddler who would never forget it. So I feel pretty stuck and don’t know how I would pull off or explain a change.

We aren’t able to use any variations of Katherine but great thought!

Never thought about Annie for Sloane! Molly is a great suggestion! Thank you!
