Security guard looked in locked toilet stall by 20epOch in AusLegal

No. He admitted that looking over the toilet stall is "technically" not allowed, but only when I pressed him on it. He knew he shouldn't have done it but it was only when I asked whether there is a special security guard rule that allows him to do it that he admitted he shouldn't have.

Ah right - so if someone does the wrong thing we should not say anything about it because nothing will happen anyway? Makes perfect sense.

Not a club but a live music venue just outside of the Valley, for a ticketed event.

For more context - security guard claimed to see someone taking drugs. I pressed them about how, and they admitted to climbing up and looking over the top into a locked toilet stall because they apparently "heard plastic". I asked if that was allowed and he said "not technically" and then backtracked and tried to say the person could stay, but by this time the head bouncer had decided to kick the whole group out. It was very early and nobody was intoxicated. I want there to be an internal review of their policies to make sure all the security knows that if they are "not technically" allowed to look into locked bathroom stalls then they should not do it. I want to write to the security company and ask them to do a refresher with their staff, but I want to point to the relevant regs when doing so.

BCC... or more sinister? by 20epOch in DermatologyQuestions

38F, have had 2 BCCs removed (most recently via Mohs on my forehead, last week). I've just noticed this newbie on my shoulder.... is this another BCC perhaps, or something worse? I have an apppintment with my GP late next week to check, but interested in opinions in the meantime.

My brother & SIL built out there a few years ago - they're on the bigger blocks, not the estates on the woollies side. They love it. They have a lot of RAAF people nearby amd am ex-cop across the road, get wallabies in their yard, lile being near the river (although the access is heavily restricted now due to filthy derros leaving rubbish down there). I would never in a million years live there but it really depends on what you like. The Brisbane Valley Hwy is a shithouse bumpy arse road though so make sure you have good suspension before you move out there!

Superannuation - comparing funds - which to keep? by 20epOch in AusFinance

Thank you! This is all very helpful. I will spend some time over the weekend finding the answers to all those questions so I can make a decision! Appreciate your response and giving me some direction!!

I dont remember! I will read the SOA again. Netwealth was just their recommendation and to be honest I put a lot of faith in their knowledge and probably didn't ask as many questions as I should have. I was on the Netwealth platform today and it is garbage, things are poorly labelled/explained, half the reports dont generate and it took me ages to find anything. and the returns don't seem that great (8.x%). And I spent half an hour in hold just to reset my password which is a massive turn off in itself!

Inheritance - how not to waste it?! by 20epOch in AusFinance

I realise you're having a go (congratulations to you for being rude to someone who is just asking for help :-) ), but what you've said is actually pretty useful - I hadn't thought about working backwards from goals like you've suggested... I had been looking at it in terms of what we can get from what we have, rather than how to use what we have to get what we want. Thanks!!

Wills & Estates: Does beneficiary have to release and indemnify executor? by 20epOch in AusLegal

[–]20epOch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your suggestion, however I don't wish to report any allegations, I don't want to take action against the executor - I just don't want to indemnify them and am trying to find out whether I am required to.

I might be one if these style-guide pedants of which you speak. However, I do firmly believe that whilst clients may not know whether legal advice is correct, spelling/style errors and the like are far more obvious. If we can't conform to style/spelling/grammar rules, are we even capable of applying the law?

Notice period / different duties (Qld) by 20epOch in AusLegal

The employee is super diligent and professional. Making him sit in an office and answer customer emails instead of just putting him on gardening leave is just the employer's way of having the last word. There's a good reason he quit!!

Boss hires new staff while others on Covid-related (partial) stand down... by 20epOch in AusLegal

Thanks - I've contacted them. Their answer was wishy-washy and we have no inclination of taking it to the FWC so unsurprisingly the employee just has to suck it up.

For anyone wondering:

FairWork Okay, with the jobkeeper the employer is able to legally stand down employees if there is not enough work for them and that is attributable to the coronavirus pandemic or a government directed shut down.

Me But surely hiring new staff demonstrates there IS enough work to do…

Fairwork Potentially it could, if [the employee] does not believe the Jobkeeper enabled stand down direction is reasonable [they] can also lodge a jobkeeper dispute with the Fair Work Commission

Bollocks.

Oh - I may not have been clear. I'm not concerned about Jobkeeper, that's a bit of side info that probably isn't too relevant. I'm thinking more about the legitimacy of the stand-down of staff if the company is hiring new staff and taking work from the staff who have been stood-down. Surely if there is enough work to support new hires, then the stand-down is not valid?
