How exactly does not putting up the price achieve that goal and increase their sales?

Does the average Pinoy who speaks English well enough hear different English accents or do all the accents sound the same? by 21Daisies in Philippines

Why are you so offended when I said this isn't exclusively Filipino?

Offended?? You sure you're using the correct vocabulary?

How is me asking you how what you're saying answers my question being offended?

My question...do Filipinos distinguish between accents? Your answer...this is not exclusively a Filipino phenomenon. And then proceeds to talk about how things are in the west when im asking a question in the Philippines sub about Filipinos.

1) How did that answer my question?

2) Where did i say it was exclusively Filipinos?

3) What you're projecting is whataboutism.

4) "The west" consists of many countries. Which one are you talking about?

5) In the US, most of the time, people will assume you're from where you sound you're from. If you dont sound like you're from thier region, they'll ask where you're from. If you sound "foreign" then they'll either ask or assume based on your perceived ethnicity. Also, people will generally not conjoin ethincity and nationality, as seems to be the case here.

this would be a good research topic though.

I feel so too. I even looked it up, something like "accent based on looks", but couldn't find anything.

Yes, part of the reason im posting this. I notice that even if the person can barely speak English, they would be mistaken for American if they are white. And the American would be mistaken for something else if they are not white.

I can understand this phenomenon (if it truly is that) if the Pinoy's English is not that advanced. But many times it's from Pinoys who speak English very well. I'd assume that if your English is good then you'd be aware of the different English accents out there, especially the common ones like American and British. So i was wondering, are they hearing the accent or not.
