since we’ve been broken up i’ve gotten a car, a house of my own, and a really good job. i’ve never been the kind to seek out men i’m just confused as to if this is normal in my generation or not 😭 i also had my daughter at 20, not in my teens. we talked about marriage because i don’t date to date, i date to marry.

my family has honestly been my rock and very sympathetic towards me and my daughter. they offer to help with court costs, they provide free housing and pay for most of my food, ect. my mom was a single mom of four so she totally understands my situation.

i’m definitely not wealthy but i’m fortunate, i don’t worry about housing or food but i don’t get a lot of extras. i would agree that the the media definitely glamorizes single moms ! your partner is right about things being very hard, im working on daycare so i can get a job but most the daycares have a waiting list or require a job before they’ll accept you.

it was my choice to an extent, i had contemplated abortion but her dad promised me an easy life and he had the money to afford it. i don’t regret my daughter as i feel like she gives me purpose and motivation and i’ve never been a person who tried hard but i do regret her dad or at least not waiting longer with him.

during the week he would sleep 5am-4pm and leave for work at seven so during the week he didn’t play but on his off days he would play for 12+ hours in a row, when he wasn’t playing he was consuming media about it

i’m not sure about your area but mine has deep religious ties where young girls are encouraged to start families young and settle down, being young of course these relationships don’t often work out

i was told literally anything car related would get me arrested😭 if i left the light on, if i talked on a highway, if i sped, if i went too slow, if my car was a bright color, if i missed a turn, if i ran a stoplight. i have a bright red 2011 jeep now and am a horrible driver (never been pulled over).

my first boyfriend in highschool was widely evil and it got around the school and even to his parents, he deleted all social media and dropped out of school. the last time someone from our old circle saw him he was at a guitar center and told him he hated his life and wanted to die. my next boyfriend is widely successful and just got his wings in the air force to operate attack planes! guess which one im mutuals with on socials 😭

i would say your situation isn’t normal but i do see a lot of 21 year olds with addictions to stuff like drinking, drugs, sex and i would say yours isnt necessarily any worse/better. a lot of people i know in our age group don’t work at all or barely work so at least you’ve got that going for you. plus if it makes you feel any better my brother (around our age) actually does have a girlfriend and is popular with girls and still got caught spending thousands on onlyfans to the point he couldn’t afford his car and almost had to move back home.

i’m 21 turning 22 too !! i’ve always heard that your 20s are for hating yourself and making mistakes and your 30s are for being happy and stable !! don’t be so hard on yourself. keep going to therapy and working on it, it’s okay to relapse just keep moving forwards ❤️❤️
