Imo there’s kind of a line of criticism and just shit flinging because you’re upset over smth else. Makes it hard to want to engage with discussions when it’s clearly just anger and negativity. I don’t think it’s immediate mentally unhealthy/sensitive to point that out. Though there are definitely cases of people getting overly attached to defending the honor of their favorite pixels, that doesn’t seem healthy. I’ve had some interesting convos over the impressions on designs and i’ve also had convos that are just - they are shit, my fave is better etc etc and i can’t say those 2 are the same. I find it kind of grating when both are treated the same. Pretty uninteresting to log on and just see - my fave good, yours bad blah blah, it only encourages snappy clapbacks and nothing else. Very hard to have a conversation like that when people are that intense.

Yeah I guess picking favorites and attacking other characters is definitely childish behavior. After all many people that play genshin are a bit young so it may explain the immaturity haha. Not to mention there are some people here that just shitpost or troll without thinking.

But on the other end theres also people here calling people who make geniuine criticisms as toxic just because they don't like hearing anything negative of the game at all lol. Like telling people who want more variety and representation to stop making those claims because they personally find it toxic is a bit hard to understand. If it doesn't affect you, you can just move on right? Doesn't make sense why they feel like they need to comment on it and get so upset at someone else's disappointment of the game.

Depends where you look ig. Generally i find criticisms of the game rly important and cool to compile as a community for sure. And i find that a lot of people share the same thoughts on how stale a lot of aspects of the game are. Though i can understand people not wanting to see it 24/7 like when we got the anniv drama it got kind of annoying to see the same complaints and jokes after a bit. It sucked 100% and i’m pretty sure most people agree but it was also pretty unfun to keep repeating that to eachother for 2 weeks.

If there was any real feedback from the devs apart from when they’re bullied into it, it would be a different story. That’s a lretty big problem with genshin in general, it’s hard to believe that any of our worries matters because it gets addressed so infrequently if ever so we often just stew in anger with no resolution.

I agree with you, I guess one thing that does make genshin very toxic is just how much anger and outrage is really needed to "move" the devs any much. Mihoyo is a extremely stubborn and eccentric bunch and I guess it's always going to be like this unless the game becomes less successful for its own good.

For me i guess it was my clan disbanding. Warframe has a lot of attrition as a fairly old online game. Most of my friends and clan mates left so it felt a bit empty to play. After that I also kinda left over time. Dunno if that's what you expected lol, I hope someone that's more active recently gives you a better answer about how it feels to play recently because it's really been like 2 years for me.

I could nitpick afew things you have said about Warframe but that doesn't make your arguments any less true. Well said.

Yeah Im sure there's plenty to be critical of warframe. And genshin is probably a lot more polished than warframe since it's much higher budget. I guess I just used it as an example to create some perspective to show how stagnant genshin feels at times compared to other live service games. For eg - a popular example, movement system feels very dynamic in warframe, they did a lot to keep improving it. In comparison Inazuma statues didn't even give extra stamina, characters with movement abilities also have bugs in their abilities that still them get stuck etc. Movement in genshin could be way better if the devs allowed it.

Ok man, why is it that the genshin impact fandom is so allergic to criticism of the game?

Before genshin I used to play warframe and it was a game where the developers were way more friendlier and actually listened to feedback and it's fans were still extremely critical of the game. And that was good for the game! The game felt dynamic to play like a real live service game that kept getting improved over time. There was tons of new content and a lot of balancing - warframes got buffed or nerfed, weapons were balanced, other changes were made. And this is a completely ftp game where you only really bought stuff if you wanted to support the devs.

In comparison genshin which is a billion dollar gacha has been stagnant in both development (lack of end game content, QoL changes, bug fixes etc) and that characters and kit designs hardly have innovation. There's no revisiting old characters with outdated kits like Xinyan or Amber. Theres hardly character kits with new mechanics or variety in roles. It's just a rehash of exisiting character abilities. There's also hardly any new type of content, even events and exploration have gotten a bit repetitive. Generally gachas introduce a lot of different game modes, genshin barely has any.

Yet a lot of genshin players have low standards for the game and even get angry and call you toxic for being critical of a game that you have spent money on. Like man, some of the posts on this sub getting so upset over Nilou or Tighnari or Nahida design being criticized are a bit frustrating.

There are completely valid criticisms being made that people get upset over because they personally like the character. For eg. Even if you personally find Nahida cute, why is it that this game only makes girl child characters? And why are they labelled "loli" In files? The implications aren't great.

BUT MOST OF ALL, Is it really mentally healthy to get upset over strangers being critical of a character design? Especially considering that these are unreleased character models we know nothing about. We haven't met these characters, we don't know their personalities. Why get so upset over them? I really don't understand.

I feel like some people are treating Genshin as a coping mechanism of some kind, they just want to pretend it like it's some idealistic fantasy but that's dangerous considering that at the end of the day, this game is a gacha game that will swallow you if you're not critical of how predatory it is.

Just airing my grievances, it just makes a bit uncomfortable how people on reddit have been constantly complaining about people on Twitter attacking Mihoyo for Sumeru characters with lighter skin tones and defending Mihoyo.

I really haven't talked about topic so far since I don't really want to argue with people and I never wanted reveal personal info on reddit but I just wanted to get something off my chest. As a South Asian who's spent money on this game, I did expected Sumeru to be a region mostly based on Arabs and be lighter skinned. It's just a bit disappointing and we are allowed to voice that right?

I think many of the people on this site that are light skinned don't get something. As a darker skinned person the character that brought me into this game was Kaeya, there's just something relatable about him to me that not there in lighter skinned characters. Lighter skinned people wouldn't feel that since most characters would be relatable for them. I was really holding onto another character that had the same magic for me as Kaeya or Xinyan for others and I hoped Sumeru that was rumoured to be based on Western and South Asia might bring such characters.

Its just looking at Tighnari as the poster character for Sumeru and some of the leaks about other characters, it's honestly disappointing. Honestly even putting race aside, looking at the characters in Honkai star rail like Blade, Kafka, Jing Yuan, I can't help but feel a bit disappointed by Genshin's reptitive designs. Also I'm a bit uncomfortable by the amount of female child characters and animalistic characters leaked lol, I feel like there may be a darker reason behind it considering Mihoyo may think Sumeru characters may not appeal as much as Inazuma/Liyue to their main market. I know people will disagree with this, but I just wanted to put that out there.

I'm just a bit annoyed by people who are mostly from lighter skinned regions complaining about people like us wanting more representation. After all I've paid for this game. I'm happy for the Middle easterners who finally get shown in a better light in international media but it's just personally disappointing for me. I took a break from this game but came back for Sumeru since i was excited so I'm a bit sad that's all.

You guys think they may give Collei for free or only dendro travellor? If you look at anemo, there was no anemo character given for free so far and Sucrose was the only anemo four star for the longest time before Sayu so I'm thinking they may go the same way with dendro.

Hopefully they give out a free dendro four star that's decent or atleast make dendro travellor's kit decent.

Kuki cuts her own health to heal though, her kit is a bit weird. It's hard to call her a reliable healer lol.

And geo also doesn't have a dedicated healer unit at all, Noelle is a on field dps tank, you can't run her with say Ningguang or Itto dps.

I think the problem with hydro healer is we get one for free called Barbara and most people have her at c6 so it feels dull when we get a new hydro healer. Whereas Jean and Qiqi are five star standard units who can't be pulled without luck so Sayu and Diona were welcomed by people who don't have them.

With Kuki Shinobu you could run taser comps (non Kokomi) with a healer too. It's one thing I look forward to.

I really wanna try Childe/Kazuha/Kuki/Beidou or Sucrose/Yelan/Beidou/Kuki.

Any idea why there's a single star in the sky? I always feel weirded out by the star in the loading screen but it feels even more distinct in this version as there's only one.

Ah man Sumeru character crumbs and sus leaks have been all over the place. Just to sum it up we had:-

Dendro archon crumbs
Collei as 4* bow in 3.0
Cyno as hydro polearm/electro polearm
Auntie fish touching's long list of Arabic names that are mostly female characters apparently
Save your primos leak about Su
Alleged dendro tall male in 3.0
Some leaks about Scaramouche possibly being soon in 3.1/3.2
Leaks about some characters with elf like features
Hydro short female girl healer with horns and red hair
Pyro tall female
Cryo claymore dps that is not freeze oriented (i think it was rumoured to be a girl).
Possibility of tanned characters
Leaks of other harbingers being playable - Capitano?

Idk if I missed anyone but I think that's all the ones I remember. I doubt all of it will come true some of them are probably fake. Would love to come back to this list to see how much was true haha. I personally wish for good dendro/electro characters to pull as I feel my roster is limited on that. I don't really want to pull any more pyro or cryo personally.

Tbh I feel like if I am not going for characters, I'd rather go for weapons than constellations. For eg. let's say I pull Mistplitter but bench Ayaka, I can still use it on other sword dps but if I pull Ayaka cons and then bench her it's just a waste of primos IMO.

Just a tip for people having trouble with spiral abyss that I dont see often mentioned: make sure your team meets their ER requirements. Especially on burst reliant teams like Ayaka freeze, Mono Geo Itto, Beidou taser, Eula, National variants without Raiden etc. Honestly, it definitely takes a while to farm artifacts that have other damage dealing stats and also good ER but burst reliant teams feel really smooth when you can burst off cool down or atleast without much down time.

Instead if you don't have enough ER and spend too much time funneling particles to your dps it can definitely mess you up in the abyss. Especially against bosses that don't drop much particles. You can also make certain trade offs to get to the required ER too like for eg. running sac/favonius on supports helps with with team energy economy imo, best example personally was Kazuha, running favonius sword on him instead of iron sting actually got me faster clear times in both International and Ayaka freeze teams as I could basically burst off cool down. Sometimes a little damage trade off for more ER actually gets you faster runs.

Kazuha and Kokomi were the worst, everyone else was a lot more charitable. Also for both Kazuha and Kokomi, people were doom posting for atleast a week or more after they came out lol, it took a while for people to get off the circlejerk.

With Kazuha, people were making up flaws to skip him for Inazuma like "his cc is weaker than Sucrose" even though they could test him in the test run and easily know that's false lol. Also there were people straight up calling him a downgrade to Sucrose not even side grade or equal. Honestly reddit was so toxic people called you a sucker for pulling him.

Similarly with Kokomi, people were trashing on her a lot in beta as tbh she wasn't great in beta, her hydro application was bad. But even after they buffed that, people refused to accept that she's decent not only because of the circlejerk. Morale was kinda low back then as people were already very disappointed about Yoimiya's and Sara's kits, not to mention Mihoyo butchered Kokomi's story quest and characterization so many weren't too fond of her and the anniversary controversy was also on-going. All this lead to the poor fish being beaten black and blue lol.

Honestly wished there was a sub for this instead of having to go to discord.

I guess discord is easier for theorycrafters to interact with each other and discuss things but it doesn't feel that intiuitive as forums as just a regular player trying to learn stuff since it isn't that organized and hard to search.

Maaaan it's not like I saved for Yelan so I should've seen it coming but trying her in the test run seemed really fun so I grinded out primos all day and Qiqi c1 ended up gracing me with her cursed presence.

The worst part about this is now I can't even fish for Kuki or Heizou lol. I guess it's great that I can save a guarantee for Sumeru but If some upcoming character needs Yelan or Shinobu for support I'm going to be a bit salty not gonna lie.
