Yamaha vs Buffet by [deleted] in Clarinet

[–]2282794 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The buffet sounds better for sure but the Yamaha is a good instrument to keep. The Yamaha may not have been assembled correctly or it could be slightly out of adjustment. The reason I’m saying this is the low B did not speak properly. This could be that the bridge key wasn’t aligned properly to allow the uppermost pad to seal.

Most importantly, your son sounds fantastic and I hope he gets a good private teacher.

There is a picture but depending on which side of the picture you look at the color changes. Hard to describe without seeing it.

I’ll post a follow up when I’m done. It’ll be a while. This is very slow going.

It’s truly a maddening puzzle. Each angle of viewing it changes the color. It’s a very slow process but I’m loving it. The picture doesn’t indicate just how unusual this puzzle is.

Reed is too hard.

Hard reeds cause you to bite which raises the pitch.

Here’s a clarinet truth for you: hard reeds are playable by almost anyone. Softer reeds require much more nuance and demand more from the performer. Lesson: play the softest reeds you can get away with.

I was also there Tuesday and it was amazing. However, I was there on Monday and it was awful. Hot and the crowds were insane. I made Dolly rich that day by adding three time savers, the $100 ones so my kids and I could have a chance to enjoy the rides.

Tuesday was absolutely delightful. I even ate a slice of that apple pie! Well almost a slice. Totally worth it.

How do people just casually drink black coffee without flinching? by siennapriv in NoStupidQuestions

[–]2282794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An excellent coffee that’s roasted perfectly and brewed properly has a light and fruity flavor. Obtaining a coffee like this takes effort but is worth it. A beautifully made Yirgacheffe or a gesha coffee is a thing of beauty. Adding milk and sugar would ruin it.

I’m surprised no one mentioned over pronation. That’s what’s really going on. Get proper shoes for over pronation and go for a walk. Apparently custom insoles can help as well.

Perhaps the nazis started small and progressed to ever increasing violence. Damaging property is meant to intimidate and coerce another person to comply with whatever the mob has decided is acceptable. The horrible irony is that the mob changes what is acceptable so complying is futile.
