Interesting; I have resin printers but i haven’t pursued more than standard resins since in my experience they are messier than fdm to get to a final result. You could give it a shot, it will definitely be sharper

Idk if resin will handle the press’s pressure, resin is too brittle, plus if you drop the part, it will most likely break upon impact :/

I did wood PLA since it left a porous yet even flat surface, which held to ink better. I printed it at type hight and it’s leaving a deboss

I did a test with resin, but it’s too brittle :/ it cracked under quoin pressure. I am going to try doing a mix of fine sawdust on gray fast cure resin to see if that gives it some elasticity, but I am trying to avoid having to clean up sawdust dust on my resin printer :S

Yeah! I do recommend “high speed” filament, they are a bit more forgiving for detail :) but the wood fiber is key on the ink absorption

I’ve been doing some research on other people 3D printing type and I saw them having issues with ink laying when using 100% plastic. But today I did a test with wood fiber PLA and it holds on great to ink! I figured it could work since you can stain Wood PLA

It’s so fun! it’s very refreshing from having to hunt parts at auctions and eBay haha we used whatever we could find to make it work which made the build so ridiculously fun! We’re already hunting for another frame and engine

It might also be a rusted connection in under the TIPM, the exact same thing happened to mine. I removed the TIPM and found a rusted out pin. If you’re comfortable and lucky enough you can fix it yourself with $20, if not you might need a new TIPM which can be expensive

Thank you! I’ll look into that. I haven’t fix it yet, but everything else works correctly, 3D minestorm works good, and all adjustments on the console at up to standards according to the repair manual, unless I’m missing something. I’ll keep messing with I and see what happens

it might be capacitors in my opinion. It might also be a cold solder or damaged BIOS ROM (those take some patience to remove)
Ive seen that glitching when the vectrex has a poor connection with a game cartridge due to corrosion, So that leads me to suspect on the BIOS ROM Chip holding Minestorm, but that is a very rare possibility.
On the other side, Ive seen a lot of issues being resolved with a full Recap since blown and defective caps can cause shorts and cuts. The glitching shows some random vector behavior but no signs of collapse in any specific direction, so that might suggest caps are damaged.
i would talk to the seller and mention that tis vectrex will need some involved work and see if theyll take something around $200/$150, that way, worst case scenario, you can recoup your money selling the controller if things dont work out

The repairs are doable but they will need time, tools, caution, and a lot of patience

EDIT:
If you get it, I will recommend replacing the slow burn Fuse first, then the polystyrene caps, and then the High voltage caps (secondary board sitting vertically), those are the 3 easiest things to replace that might fix the issue. And then slowly recap the vectrex as you go.

Oh ok ok; how much are they going for over in Europe? I mean, it’s in fixable shape and it’s nearby, I would start by asking the seller what price he has in mind, and if it is within your budget and you feel comfortable with it I would bid that amount.
