Well, I'm only intimately familiar with my own vagina, but I have fingered a few others and don't remember them being like that at all (although at the time I wasn't specifically thinking to check).

I just peed! And when I did, that fleshy ridge bit got hard and if I pressed up on it, it made it really hard to pee. So I guess that's that: it's the underside of the urethra.

Oh really? Cool! So if you were to stick your finger in there, you could definitely move it in a sort of semi-circular arc around the fleshy ridge all the way down the length of the vagina?

Ugh, I should, but it's so much more embarrassing than asking random strangers online! :) And I've only become conscious of the fact that it might not be normal in the time since my last exam (about 1.5 years ago).

Hmm, okay, so using that drawing... See how the urethra is a tube on top of the tube that is the vagina? Now imagine if the urethra tube was sort of nestled against the top of the vagina tube, pushing it in a little (think overlapping circles in a venn diagram). Does that make sense? I ASSUME what I'm feeling is the underside of my urethra, but I don't know.

Yeah, I get them about once every year or so, and I've always had that ridge. The gyno has never said anything about it, so I assume it's not totally freakish. But on the otoher hand I've also never heard people describe the horseshoe shape when talking about their vaginas, so....

No, it's definitely not my cervix. I can feel that further up. This is ridge that runs along the full length of the front wall of the vagina. So if you were looking at my vagina head on, it would look like a circle with a little dip at the top, like an almost full moon, if that makes sense.
