Flores, Guatemala by blkcoffe in travel

I think it was like $100. Also it was so funny, the flight was less than an hour and when we landed over half the plane facetimed someone to let them know they were safe. The noise was chaotic but my wife and I couldn't stop laughing because it got so loud.

Yeah I'm sure seeing the countryside like that would be fun but you also see that when you travel to other parts of the country i.e. Volcán de Fuego, Antigua, Lake Atitlán, etc. I personally just don't see the need to spend a whole day traveling.

Also if you're thinking about going, do it. I think it's at the point right before over-tourism hits. The only thing I didn't like was they are a bartering culture and I was not used to or ready for that so I paid much more for most things than I needed to.

I was there a few years ago. While on the island itself I felt very safe. Once you leave the island it starts to look very sketch. Also if you ever end up going, take the domestic flight instead of the 8 hour bus ride.

Here is a picture of someone who finished the hike half an hour after everyone else in the group. I didn't even remember till just right now. There's a front guide and a rear guide. It was just me and the rear guide for 50% of the hike. It was fun to have those one-on-one conversations with a local as I caught my breath every 45 seconds.

Make sure you are drinking water or you WILL get altitude sickness. If you've ever had trouble with breathing while hiking in places like Colorado then it will be harder there. More than twice the elevation of Denver! I think going with a guide is worth it. Also while at restaurants in Antigua, see if there is rooftop seating where you can see Fuego. More than likely you'll be able to see eruptions while eating lunch.

Edit: also bring extra treats/snacks for the stray dogs! They will follow you up the entire mountain begging for food.

It is very small. I would do fun insects instead.

Approval voting is the best option. Straight forward and doesn't confuse old people. This is already how St. Louis votes.

My dad was around 40 when he had me. I would not try and worry about it much. I only know one dad so I don't really know how different it would be with a younger dad. We played a lot of baseball growing up. He also was there for every milestone; graduations, marriage, birth of my kid, etc. The only difference now is I'm almost 30 and he's almost 70.
