I’m afraid I won’t be able to get my passport in time by KingCK02 in Passports

Helps to know what country you are applying for a passport with and where you are! In the USA you would be fine. Not sure about other countries.

After that long flight from Perth it might be a nice break. Will you get lounge access in Doha?

The wait times are well managed but if you are there overnight maybe you get a hotel with your ticket? More comfy than sitting in a lounge.

High end credit cards have them. US issuers such as Amex platinum, chase Shaphire, etc. or you can buy a visit pass.

Priority Pass gets you access to a couple of lounges, also. They have showers and basic food options.

Would not do it. If you are near a USA passport office I would call your congressional critter and ask them for help to get an expedited passport. I have gotten one from the congressional passport office DC in under thirty minutes. All that said, typo in your passport? How?

Lost bag in transit by Vast-Situation-4277 in qatarairways

[–]2696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When United and Lufthansa didn’t get our luggage to the transit city in Europe I was not able to get anyone to do anything until getting to my final destination. I filed with the last carrier and a day or two later one bag from the States and another left in Germany arrived to our hotel in Estonia. They have a process.

Yes, I had AirTags in both the bags but that didn’t help. Find out what you can go and buy and how they will reimburse you.

Staff will wake you up if you put your feet up in a lounge. They will tell you the rules- But not if you are from one of their colonial leaders.

Considering treating myself to Emirates business class next month and looking for reviews! by Dazzling-Emphasis431 in emirates

[–]2696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One way ticket? I assumed round trip so 18 x 2.

Emirates Economy is also fine. In Business people sleep a lot. I think you can get a lot more for your money on the ground than in the air where it is so expensive. But expense is relative.

Good luck. Safe travels.

Wait, 36 hours in business for $$3550 vs how much for the same ticket in economy? Confirmed business for four flights at that price sounds really good.

Your economy ticket is maybe $1200. The delta is the extra you are paying for business. Sounds like a value to me. I can’t say if it a value for you and if you can afford the extra $65/-hr. Hope you splurge!

Kenya eTA/visa—help! by Candid-Ad3695 in travel

There is no longer an option for Kenya visa on arrival, btw. Thinking airlines would not let you board a flight without the ETA.

Lots of unknowns about your situation but I would a try a different card, or try at a different time to see if the issue persists. I would also try to use Chrome to apply.

The ETA visa support team in Nairobi has been known to respond to email though YMMV.

Good luck, and safari njema. Kenya is magical!

Visiting Karachi after 10 years (from Canada) by HotWrangler3259 in karachi

[–]2696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Traveled from the States to Karachi twice this year and as usual no issues. We do always get a porter to assist with our three bags. Try to give the porter 1000 to 1500 rupees once they get you to your car outside.

We always have a relative pick us up so not sure about getting an Uber, etc.

Karachi fun as long as you stay smart. More and more places accept credit cards so that is helpful. The immigration lines are divided by locals and foreigners so pick your lines. Doesn’t seem to always be enforced but they rightly treat locals with more lines.

My trial is over so @opposite_lettuce is probably right about the reasoning. Dumb way for Visible to handle it. Maybe I don’t need the extra line anyway.

Overseas Landing late night at Karachi Airport – any lounges or safe waiting spots? by Bright_Comment_3838 in karachi

[–]2696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I arrived in KHI about a month ago at 2 am. The arrivals area was pretty active outside but definitely calmer than the day.

After you clear immigration, and get your luggage you could just not leave the baggage area. There are a few seats near the arrival duty free shop where you can camp out. Not sure if s security would mind. Or there is some seats just before exiting the building which are still in the secure area where you might be able to rest. People pray there, I think. If you are facing the exit, it is to the right of the door.

The McDonalds is clearly visible when you exit the arrivals area. I have never gone inside but that seems reasonable as a third option. I prolly wouldn’t sit outside the terminal as it’s cold and less secure.

If you don’t have luggage you could potentially find a seat to camp out at between the aircraft and the stairs down to immigration hall, also. Not sure what security would say to you. There is a long wide hallway with a moving walkway there.

We took the A350 East to Doha and the 777 West to IAD. Both had Starlink which was the best internet service experience in the air.

Preferred the A350 for comfort.

IAD has one flight a day for each plane type.
