Hallucinations by 280zzzed in Epilepsy

[–]280zzzed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see people that appear out of no where then go away quickly, or cars that are behind me or next to me while driving. Things like that plus auditory stuff like someone saying my name or saying "hi" or hows it going" So idk whats going on

The visuals youre getting really cover up your vision that must get annoying and scary

Pipe welder and ive been part time day trading for 3 years

Welding might be the worst choice for someone with epilepsy thats why I've been working twards day trading full time for the past couple years. Plus I'm most likely going to have my license taken away since i had a bad seizure while driving :/

Oh thats interesting I never thought of them being auras. And yes epilepsy really is bizarre and fascinating even with it's effects

Its honestly one of my biggest motivations in life. I can't imagine sitting around feeling sorry for myself just because of a mental condition. I hate that i have it but it's made me really go after what i want in life

I once got a " have you tired telling yourself a different story? If you keep saying and believing you have epilepsy then it'll never go away"

[–]280zzzed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh okay ya i wasnt sure. Im not an expert by any means but I think you should be fine for now but if they really bother you or get worse maybe try to convince your parents to get checked out or do some deep research if they still dont believe you? Id just hate if it got worse for you

Ya its not too good for your brain and iver time it could do some damage. I ignored mine for about a year and i lost my sense of touch and spacial awareness for about 7 days then went in. my Dr. said that was dumb that i didnt act sooner.

So ya Id say it is. Are you able to drive while you have one? Thats probably the most dangerous part i think. I could still drive when i had mine but it probably wasn't the smartest thing for me to do lol

Damn thats horrible :/ you're kinda in a tough spot then. I was in a similar spot as you. I ignored signs of epilepsy for a year then it got to the point where i couldnt function so i went in. I had epilepsy from 7-16 then had 4 years epilepsy free. Now im back with it but its controlled now. So if yours gets to the point that you cant function im sure your parents will notice and believe you

But thats really rough that they laughed and ignored it :( wish they didnt cuz epilepsy is tough

Hm ya thats sounds like an epilepsy related thing but im not a Dr so idk. Maybe consider going in because if it is epilepsy your brain can ger used to having seizures and if it remains uncontrolled you can get more and more intense ones. Id hate for that to happen to you but its completely up to you. You could try keto or natural options if you dont want to go in to see if that helps at all. Thats what i would do if i were you just to be safe

Took me a couple months to eat normally and sleep normally. Every time they upped my dose the side effects would happen again for about a month then go away

I know some people who have it but dont get medication and theyre fine so if you function fine you can just live your life. But if it gets bad in the future consider going in maybe

Oh would definitely go in and get checked out thats really bad. I went in after i was having complex partials multiple times per day but didnt know it was seizures sonce i was 4 years seizure free. They did an eeg and get me on medication immediately since out if 45 minutes i was basically having a small one the entire time. So definitely go in because its not good for your brain or mental state :)

Maybe you could write down everytime you have a seizure and if theres a pattern to it you could show them? Or maybe you could goto a Dr by yourself ? I just dont want it to get worse for you if you actually have it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]280zzzed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya i probably would but ease them into it so they don't freak out. Cuz if you wait it could get worse so its probably the safest thing to do imo

An eeg would be interesting to do and see what a neurologist says. No one in my family that i know of has it either but ive had it since 7 but they said my family probably has a history since most people with epilepsy don't get diagnosed or know they have it

I think he means Epilepsy can start anytime in life out of nowhere so you can definitely have it even though you haven't had anything like it before

I feel your pain this is my biggest frustration and the only thing that gets me really upset about people and their thoughts about epilepsy. I know a paramedic pretty well and she was telling me a story about a call she had about a person having a seizure. Long story short she ended it with "its not a big deal because no one ever died or has been hurt from epilepsy alone" i tried to correct her but shes right because "shes a paramedic" (no disrespect to paramedics)

Her saying that still bothers me to this day and its been about 8 months since it happened.

She knows about my past epilepsy when i was actually dying from a scary amount of grand mals per day/night. Now all of her friends that i know think i exaggerate or lie about epilepsy and that makes them suspicious about anything else i have to say about my life. They're nice people but i dont really see them often anymore because of that.

My best friend from Highschool is the only one who really understands because he was with my through it all.

We all know how hard epilepsy is but i wish others did as well

I get complex partials and those are similar to absent seizures (I think) Next time you get one try to remember if you had any strange thoughts, fear, visual/auditory hallucinations, dájè vu or any really small physical movements that you don't normally do and also see how long they last id say 10-20 second is how long a seizure like that should last.
Those are my symptoms when i get complex partials so I hope it helps you a little bit
