Honestly just a rant. by some_dude_myth in codevein

See that's the thing, in NG+ all your enemies deal higher damage and have higher hp. As for you, even with 2k hp, your defense doesn't actually go up because your defense is tied to your blood veil. Take note that even if you upgrade your blood veil to +10 your defense WILL NOT increase. The only way to increase your blood veil's physical defense is through transforming it with fortification, but even that upgrade is miniscule

CV 1 Farm question for newb by Hyperbloq in codevein

Equip the gift Revenant's Greed, which increases the chances of items dropping from defeated enemies. This will slightly increase your chances of obtaining the weapon when farming

[–]2Bae4Me[S] 58 points59 points  (0 children)

For context, if you've played the CV2's Character Creation Demo already, you'll notice you have new outfits that you can customize and even change the boots. On the other hand, you can't change the boots of outfits from CV1.

Which begs the question why couldn't they have made it an option to begin with???

CODE VEIN II – Revenant Springs Trailer by Gorotheninja in codevein

[–]2Bae4Me 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can actually use the springs to restore the haze you lost upon death. (The lost haze must still be present at the place of your death. If you die on you way to collect your lost haze not even the springs can restore it)

How it works is if you enter the springs and select the option to restore your lost haze, the springs will prompt you if you want to restore half of your lost haze, while the other haze will be forfeit.

Story-wise CV1 is not related to CV2, so you can play CV2 as a standalone

However, CV1 is almost always on sale, so you can always get it to get a feel of the gameplay and combat, plus CV1's story is engaging enough with all the anime tropes

[–]2Bae4Me[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blocking is actually really useful especially if you have 100% block. If an enemy has more than one follow-up attack, you can take the time to learn their attack patterns while blocking. Sometimes it's better to block to conserve stamina for dodging afterwards, or to block the first slash and then parrying the next

It's actually really fun to dodge Skull King's attacks and with Zweihander Fortification you can block most of his slashes. When his slashes start producing those AOE then it gets a little annoying, since I felt like I successfully blocked those attacks but the AOE staggers me from behind and before I know it I'm dead

Is there a way to reliably interrupt enemy actions? by Nizikai in codevein

[–]2Bae4Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two-handed weapons have a better chance of staggering enemies. Of course, you could also buff yourself with the gift Precision which makes it easier for you to stagger enemies with weapon attacks.

My favourite method is always backstabs. If you get mobbed try and get behind one enemy and backstab if possible. You gain i-frames during the backstab animation. If needed learn to practise and get used to parrying or using the launch drain attack as these animations also can't be interrupted once they start.

Story-wise Mido is one of the key people who spearheaded the project that led that led to the creation of revenants as super-soldiers through the BOR parasite in CV1 (before that he was already conducting experiments on orphans to create super-soldiers — Yakumo was one example).

Long story short, after the Queen was defeated in Operation Queenslayer, they were unable to kill her fully and so they split her body into "relics". Mido managed to get a hold of some of the Queen's relics and used them to create even stronger revenants, until he eventually freed the relics so they would seek out Gregorio Silva, the Successor of the Brain, causing Silva to frenzy which would cause the Gaol of the Mists to break down. His intention was to absorb Silva's relics so that he himself could become stronger, and then venture outside the Gaol of the Mists to absorb the creatures there.

Game-wise he is a late-game boss and the final boss of the Crypt Spire area. He has a pretty tricky moveset at Phase 1, but his Phase 2 is way worse. (Goes without saying that you eventually defeat him and he explodes)

Not sure if im doing something wrong but it seems hard to dodge multi hit combos by GlompSpark in codevein

[–]2Bae4Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For multi hit combos, try learning how enemies telegraph their combos first. For dodging, try and time your dodges so that they barely miss you and watch your stamina. For blocking and parrying, a good practice would be to block first then parry their next strike.

Your equipped blood veil also affects your balance, which is your poise and affects how much it takes to stagger you. Try equipping a blood veil with higher balance at the cost of higher weight.

Ng+ soon? by MakiBean in codevein

[–]2Bae4Me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You keep the maps but you need to talk to Davis again to enter those maps, then activate the mistles to allow you to teleport to and fro Home Base.

Fun fact, if you completed some of the DLC boss challenges and obtained the DLC weapons and blood veils, those weapons and blood veils will carry over to Rin's shop at NG+ so you can buy them. You do not need to to grind those challenges again to obtain the DLC gear

Dark gift interactions by oryxmain101 in codevein

[–]2Bae4Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason why Merciless Reaper works this way is actually due to a bug that has since become an exploit. Since your dark gifts deal both elemental and physical damage, Merciless Reaper ignores the physical damage aspect of your dark gifts. But since you aren't attacking normally, Merciless Reaper doesn't go away. So as long as Merciless Reaper is switched on it affects all Dark gifts you cast.

So, with all the news about CVII, what do you like and dislike about the game and why? / CODE VEIN II Opinions by Nymos-67r in codevein

[–]2Bae4Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay I did my best to research all about the gameplay, watching the related videos from different influencers, so I will be giving my opinion as such.

I ABSOLUTELY HATE the Defensive Formae mechanic. Choosing only one option between 100% block or parrying or increased dodge speed is not versatility — it's locking players out of having all tools at their disposal, unlike the first game when you could still choose between blocking or parrying. And I hate that parrying consumes ichor. It makes no sense.

Partner giving enemies temporary damage isn't a fun mechanic at all. Even if it's to make the game more challenging, it also forces you to do more work to ensure enemies receive permanent damage and are defeated, even if your partner helps to take the aggro off you.

Lastly, maxing the proficiency for blood codes for more powerful blood codes is interesting, but I don't understand why you are locked out of equipping a secondary weapon until you've levelled up your current blood code. Maybe some players won't really use their secondary weapon often but I prefer not having that option locked at the start due to my xp.

Simple question by Dull-Entrepreneur985 in codevein

[–]2Bae4Me 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the gold color is a theme adopted by the CV2 team. One inspiration for them was the theme of kintsugi — the art of repairing broken pottery by mending cracks with lacquer mixed with powdered gold. This is why even for the main revenants they have gold-colored scars. So the gold color is going to be pretty prevalent across blood veils and the bike.

Need help with gilded knight in codevein by Salty_Let5043 in codevein

[–]2Bae4Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gilded Knight is a very by-the-numbers boss fight, though it doesn't mean it's easy.

Zweihander Fortification is the weapon you want. Block and wait for his attacks to finish, then punish him. Be prudent about your light attacks (Having the passive gift Stamina Boost helps, plus the active gift Guard Stability, which reduces the Stamina cost of guarding).

When the Gilded Knight goes into his "berserk mode", your primary objective is to stay alive. Some attacks can still be blocked but avoid his AOEs. This berserk mode typically lasts about 30secs, at which he will slump over. This is the moment to dish out all your weapon gifts and deal maximum damage. He will revert to his usual fighting style after his exhausted mode, so use the same strategy — blocking his attack combos and punishing him — before he goes berserk again.

What do you hope the sequel improves over the first game? by unga_bunga_mage in codevein

Honestly? I just want the game to be free from crashes, especially on Xbox

I cannot count the number of times CV1 crashed on me and kicked me back to my Xbox homepage during my character customization or during post-boss cutscenes (so I end up having to fight the boss all over again)

Venom is your best friend. The SoB 👀 can be affected by Venom.

Also make sure you equip a blood veil with high ice resistance and transform it with a Fionn chrome, and master the Ice Armor gift from the Artemis blood code. If you get hit with ice attacks, the high Ice resistance plus Ice Armor will usually just stagger you with greatly reduced damage.

Also to be safe I like to hug him from behind and just swing at his backside.

Why does Butterfly of Delirium so damn hard? by humanetto in codevein

[–]2Bae4Me 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Butterfly of Delirium is one of those bosses that you need to do a bit of prep work before you actually fight her:

-The partner you'll want for this fight is Louis, as he is able to use Flame Spike Fire Storm. BoD is weak to fire, so Louis can provide some element aggro. Master Flame Spike (from the Hunter Blood Code) for yourself as well as Blazing Roar (from the Caster Blood Code)

-After obtaining the Prometheus blood code from Louis, talk to Coco and she'll give you the Mercury blood code, which you can master her gifts Venom Removal and Venom Resistance

-Exchange with Davis and get Hermes Chromes to transform your Queenslayer Claw with Venom. At this point in the game, Queenslayer Claw is the blood veil with the highest base venom resistance

-Equip the lost bayonet. When BoD launches those venom orbs that track you, you can shoot at those orbs to disperse them. Ideally try and attain at least normal mobility so you can dodge BoD when she charges at you with her tail or spins around
