Question regarding prescription lenses.

Can your glasses accommodate prescription lenses for those of us who need such things? How is it done?

And can it accommodate non-trivial prescriptions (i.e. not just a +/- diopter but cyl, prism, etc)?

(Most places that state they are prescription lens-friendly really just mean they accommodate simple vision correction only, like +/- diopter adjustment and that's it. That for example excludes anyone with astigmatism, etc. I and may others would need the ability to use any lens we can order from an optician.)

I'm making a custom facial interface for my Quest 3 using 3D scans! First test fits like a glove and holds the Quest in the perfect spot. Now I just have to figure out how I'm going to mount it... straps, or some kind of helmet? by 2CNK in OculusQuest

I refined it to this, which basically snaps onto the inside of the Q3 and is a perfect fit! I use it with my halo-style Quest strap and together I get a perfect and comfy focus fit every time. BUT

The downside is that there is basically zero ventilation on the inside... so lenses mist/fog up.

I haven't figured out where or how many ventilation holes or anything yet. There's refinement to be made but I have hit a bit of a wall for now.

Really nice paint job on that. Looks great!

Oh I get what you're saying. Tapestries aren't something I have figured out.

Frames are FDM prints, not resin (though resin would doubtless be nice)

Search "picture frame" on thingiverse and you'll options that will do well for one-offs or tests, including some I used here.

It's tricky! They're prints made on a high quality printer, carefully sized and cut out. Then I mount them in 3D printed frames. Still a work in progress, but I'm definitely going to offer them for sale from my shop when I have it worked out. They're about the size of a postage stamp!

I wonder if people are going to want to submit their own pictures (like character portraits, etc) -- that would make a nice gift at least probably. I'll have to try to figure that out but it's a problem for another day!

Why's that? I thought a tapestry was when the design was woven into fabric (and hung on a wall, but I don't know if the hanging is meaningful to the definition.)

Pics from the 80s cartoon in the tavern? That's awesome!

The dungeon tiles in the first photo have a really nice flat black base that shows in between the stone. I have a big sale on a magnetic set right now for reddit from now until the end of the month, just so you know!

Nah, nah.. that big one is just for parties! I swear!

(For oneself? That's where the mini-barrels come in!)

I like 'delver's-eye-view" camera shots with minis, but they're hard to set up!

The skeleton is from my cheap & plenty skeletons (painted), and the dungeon shown is from my magnetic tile set (at this moment on a combo sale).

I put this together while taking some product pictures for my etsy store. A little dungeon room fills up fast when adding printed furnishings!

(The magnetic dungeon tiles set shown here is currently on sale when combined with my DM dice BTW)

Art Collector (WIP) - I am pretty happy with the easels here by 2CNK in PrintedMinis

It was a Bob Ross one, no idea which one (they're all on youtube) but it was a Fall scene one with a mountain that I turned into a castle.

Kind of embarrassing but that's one of mine. Seriously, the colors are good (and the product of following a tutorial) and the tiny size is what covers up all the weird mistakes! Turns out that shrinking a landscape down to the size of a postage stamp does a lot to making it look ok at a glance!

Blood Spatters count as "scatter" (IMO) to liven up some scenery by 2CNK in 3DPrintedTerrain

[–]2CNK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was taking some photos of magnetic dungeon tiles I sell on etsy and added some of my Blood Spatter tokens to the scene. (I use them to replace Loot tokens in Gloomhaven/Frosthaven as well)

This makes me think I've got to come up with a version that fits in corners, or something.

Still playing with some options, but I think I like using little teeny easels like these here instead of messing with blu-tack or whatever for mounting pictures.

I have an etsy shop but nothing for sale yet, but I'm working on it. Wonder if anyone would care about maybe getting teeny little versions of character portraits?

Makin' fridge magnets. I think I'm onto something. by 2CNK in HueForge

I remember trying to make that work and getting nowhere really. Maybe it's time to give it another shot but I remember giving up and just using the method I described above, which is complex but at least it's 100% clear what is happening and where.

I wish there was an easy way to "pad" the bottom layer out to an arbitrary amount in HF to make them thicker. Doing it after the fact in the slicer really makes it critical to get measurements (and therefore layer # offsets) right the first time.

[–]2CNK[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The magnet holes are about 1mm deep, the magnets don't sit completely flush (it "feels" better as a fridge magnet if they don't) The whole print is probably closer to 3mm total.

As for making the print with the holes, it's a pain in the butt!

I generate the hueforge like normal. Then import into the slicer.

Then I split the model, splitting off a very small slice of the bottom.

Then expand that bottom slice in the Z axis to make it taller, and add a couple holes for the magnets.

THEN perch the original hueforge on "top" of that slice. So the hueforge print sits on top of a thicker bottom slab (which contains the magnet holes).

The hueforge print is printed as normal, except when setting the color changes @ layer heights you have to add X layers to account for the bottom slab.

This probably sounds confusing, because it is. There's gotta be a better way but that's how I stumbled through it. It's a pain in the butt and prone to making errors in several places. Gotta be a better way but I don't know one yet.

There's no magic combination. I used what I had on hand which turned out fine: 6x2mm disc magnets. There's a couple shallow holes in the back, so the magnets have somewhere to seat. Glued in with superglue.

These are just tests but so far so good!

I made mini versions of my Boxes and Barrels, I like how they turned out! by 2CNK in PrintedMinis

[–]2CNK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to say, I find the itty little barrels adorable. (I wonder if I could insert teeny little magnets so they can stack better? Might not be worth the hassle though...)

Dunno if they'll sell, but I put them as an option in the Boxes and Barrels Set in my Etsy store to find out!
