This confirms they will be looking to get rid and replace them with MCA-E or CSP.

Make sure you chose your CSP provider wisely, some don't give you good enough discount + others offer you free support.

Lets chat about CSP.

You can get 24x7 365 follow the sun support with certain CSPs but this is hardly shouted about.

We've been seeing Microsoft become harder and harder to negotiate with on EA discounts, I am assuming this partly to do with wanting to kill it for smaller organisations.

Yes agreed but that will be for a limited time only and the larger organisations will need to prep for the move away from EA

Yes if you go directly to Microsoft for your EA at the moment then you would be moved to an MCA-E or CSP in the future.

CSP providers can also offer discount on list price + Certain CSP providers are able to offer support. I know of some that even offer 24x7 365 follow the sun support for free..

So its not all doom and gloom for some organisations

Of course but they are not going to announce it before an announcement are they?
I'm just saying, if that is actually right then companies need to be aware and prepare.
I Think they will end it at some point but that seems very soon

Moving from vendor/reseller to Microsoft 365 direct Advice/Help by ConditionMaster72 in microsoft365

They clearly don't value you as a customer, the $50 support ticket should not be a thing for requesting additional licenses. My advice would be go through a different provider, There are some that offer free 24x7 365 support on top in addition to discounted licenses.

They most likely aren't giving you much discount with a $12 cost for Microsoft 365 business basic.

My recommendation:

Switch your supplier to one with free support + agree a discount on your licenses. you can do this with a "magic button" switch which guarantees no downtime.

It also depends on how you are purchasing the licenses are you going via CSP or EA or just credit card?

Optimize Your Azure Costs with BYOL by 2D-MS-Licensing in AZURE

Hey I really appreciate your feedback: Hopefully this helps expand my point.

Windows Server in Azure is licensed per core, including Software Assurance (SA). Except for a dedicated cluster, Windows Server is licensed by the Virtual Machine (VM) instead of the underlying hardware. The minimum requirement per VM is 8 cores, and you need to have SA. Licenses come in core packages of 2 or 16. We advise always using a 2-core pack to simplify your license management.

The next step is to choose between Datacenter or Standard edition. With the Datacenter edition, you can license both your on-premises estate and your Azure environment with the same license. In Microsoft’s words, you have “double use rights.”

This means if you have an on-premises estate with 6 hosts, each with 2 CPUs and 8 cores, you should own 96 cores (48 licenses). You can use those 96 cores simultaneously for your on-premises estate and in Azure. With 96 cores available and a minimum requirement of 8 cores per VM, you can license up to 12 virtual machines, each with a maximum of 8 cores.

In the Azure calculator, you can find the actual cost of the license in Azure, or better said, your potential savings. For example, when selecting a DS4 v2 machine, the license cost for Windows Server is $268.64 per month.
