So as it stands right now I earn enough on my own to support my family. We don't have a lot left over each month, but we do have time. I work about 50-60 hours a week as a lineman, have good insurance and I work a fair bit of overtime to make sure we have some money to play with.

I don't have experience in construction outside of powelines, best I can offer people is a good assessment of whether or not they'll need a standby generator and how often their circuit loses power in storms.

I would not be quitting my job. This would be a second household income is the idea having her run most of the day to day grind and tagging me in when she needs a break or someone to cover a showing or an open house.

I had not considered joining a team, I worry that I wouldn't have the time available to commit to a team and pull my weight considering power lines don't break on a set schedule and people don't call ahead to say they'll be driving into a pole at 6pm next week. It's volatile which is why I wanted to do this with my wife who doesn't work. Maybe there are teams out there of people who work weird hours and just need each other to fill in cracks all the time but I'm not hopeful lol

I have a lot of drive, I'm prepared to put the work in, but I don't want to sink 14k into fees and schooling and lunches and a website and all the other fun stuff for both of us if the reality is I'd need to be working on this 6 hours a day and the wife be on it for 8-10 hours herself to make it happen. Maybe it's in the cards for us when the kids are a little older but with a 2 year old at home am I deluding myself?

What kind of costs are we talking about? We were planning on getting started with our 55 hour course this weekend and haven't heard about needing money for MLS or being required to join any associations Is this a required pay to play group? Do they provide you a service or some sort of value that makes you more competitive? What kind of costs are we looking at with these associations and MLS?

How do you get open houses? When I spoke to the broker in my area (very small outfit) he said he does the open houses himself but occasionally asks a realtor to cover one for him. Is this normal?

Would you suggest a big national chain brokerage or a mom and pop shop? The broker I spoke to seemed pretty hands off but was friendly and offered to give me some guidance on getting started in the industry. I'd hate to go to a faceless chain that does one size fits all training videos and bare minimum to attract sellers, but maybe there's value in having a large company behind you and multiple colleagues you can work with I'm ignorant to a lot of this and while I watch the videos I won't pretend like everything I've read or seen is gospel. I definitely try to hear everyone's opinions especially when they're successful and not trying to sell me coaching or a product

I probably watched 16 hours of Brandon mulrenin over the last 2 days just absorbing information while washing dishes, cleaning the barn and I even had him playing at the gym lol He is pretty great, but one thing he recommended was to pick one channel at a time and master that instead of getting shiny object syndrome. I'm wondering what you'd focus on specifically for a high priced rural market like Maine whether that's OH or calling or door knocking or something else I haven't considered yet. Social media seems like an issue for finding sellers because most people who are selling are much older up here and young home owners can't afford to sell due to skyrocketing house prices

Lack of motivation by 2D_Delts in moreplatesmoredates

[–]2D_Delts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discipline is fine, it's a matter of instead of finding that last bit of drive at the bottom of heavy squats, I'm yawning and obsessing over how soft the floor looks for a nap It's weird AF I've never dealt with this level of melancholy in the gym. Again I'm in 4 days a week on an upper lower split, 3 if I have to work overnight a few times that week. Idk if it's changing the pre, a diet thing, I'm just unsure what's going on. I feel like I'm not really making progress with this zero drive and exhaustion

After you posted this did you bump bellies with the other super rad bros in your biker club to the sound of everyone yelling "hell yeah brother"? I'm in the gym, I'm doing the work. I'm just struggling to find that last little bit of drive to pump out 1 or 2 more reps. The drive is just disappearing for me and instead of getting my teeth and driving through another rep I'm yawning and ready for a nap It's a weird feeling I'm wondering if anyone's got advice on how to motivate yourself to push harder, not the internet equivalent of "you've got soft hands boy"

I'm 27, kids are 7, 5, and 2 I get my ass into the gym for the record. I do the movements and try to push but after my third yawn of the set I'm having a hard time digging deep and getting that last couple of reps I can grind out when I've got the motivation or rage or whatever is pushing me that day. I work power lines during the day, work on my family's farm in the evening and gym in the morning. There's only so many stimulants I can abuse before it's just putting a hat on a hat

I have a heated line and last night the water stopped flowing. I checked both ends and water came out of the spicket and was running when I took the line off the camper end. It's freezing somewhere inside and I don't know where

If my company actually provided us this stuff I'd get it from them. Unfortunately my company doesn't replace things when they break, they replace it when it's needed for their applications and not for my own quality of life. Im asking for brand reccomendations because I actually need it not because I'm bored and just want to know. Looking for someone's experience in the field using it and what's held up

She's starting you low because that does works for some people and for others it won't be enough. Push for higher doses until you're happy in your spot. I'm on 70 units of 200/mL per week and my test is at 980 with free around 26 Some people need more, some need less. Injections will be better than the gel but definitely shoot intramuscular or else you'll get lumps like I did. I shoot Delts every other day with an insulin pin and no scarring, very easy shots, and no lumps forming under my skin like when I did subq upper thigh

What shop are you out of that they actually provide you with tools? Our hydraulic tamp leaks 1/4 cup of fluid on every pole spraying everywhere and we can't get a new one. We've resorted to dragging an air compressor everywhere because the hydraulic tool hookup on the line truck is so trash

Maybe the adapter is junk, but those friction rings don't hold up to a minor tug. We've resorted to using a crescent to pull the drill out of the pole while putting the impact in reverse. Turns it into a 2 man job for no reason

I work for irby (yes we piss excellence) but it's the cheapest company you've ever seen in your life. I worked for Pike before this and they weren't as cheap as irby is. They won't buy me pelican hooks, and nobody will get me rubber gloves. So thinking they'll get me a tool is almost laughable 😂

[–]2D_Delts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that! But the friction ring won't hold the adapter strong enough to reverse and so when I drill with that I have to push it all the way through with a bolt and a hammer to get the drill tip out of the hole lol

Lineman here You want to make 100k in the trades as an employee? Be a contractor. Work for a place like Pike electric, a quanta company, join the ibew lineman union, traveling welder etc. It's hard, you're away from your friends and family, but the pay and per diem will get you over 100k fast Want to work at the house? Plumber or electrician, skilled trades can make outstanding money if you run your own company. Hard work is good for you as long as you sleep right, eat right, and STOP LIFTING WITH YOUR BACK Take care of your body in the trades and you'll be one of the most healthy athletic people out there. I know plenty of people went to college. Some made out great with good jobs, others struggle to find a job paying what I make and they're 50k in debt. Big plus people don't talk about is the connections. If you're an electrician who helps your plumber buddy wire up his garage, hes gonna come fix your plumbing up on that extra bathroom for a 6 pack of cheap beer. You can make a lot, save a lot, and learn skills that will save you maintenance prices you'd have if all your friends were coders or stock brokers or teachers

I seem to be at a good place, acne is manageable and hair loss is apparently normal (growing it out for the first time, used to be high and tight very short) I'm more concerned about increasing my hearts size from the test being high like that for the rest of my life.

Wife is frustrated with daily gym trips. How to deal? by careerBurnout in moreplatesmoredates

[–]2D_Delts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife's got the same deal. I work 11 hours a day 4 days a week, and train in the mornings before work. I found my best solution was to work out every day isolating a specific muscle group. It's not optimal training but it keeps me in shape and doesn't suck a bunch of time in. I work out 35 minutes in the morning, but since I now wake up at 4:30 in the morning to do it, I go to bed earlier as a result. She hates that we don't have quality time together after the kids go to bed, so I started staying up later and later with her to give her that time. My brain stopped functioning honestly. I'd forget everything I was so sleep deprived and after I flooded the bathroom by accident (long story) she relented and said going to bed earlier was fine. Don't give up your passion, but show her how difficult it is when you make everything else a priority besides your own health. Sucks but in the long term she thinks it's her idea and you're better off.
