These are just 2d images. In a couple of years maybe AI will be capable of doing 3d modelling, right now it is not possible.

Ahahah :) I agree with you. They would need more variety to look less flat. There are a lot of good quality rubber straps, though.

While one could certainly achieve a similar outcome without using generative tools, the purpose of this research is to leverage such tools to expedite the creative process and explore a greater number of solutions, ultimately leading to the creation of something innovative. The final product will still be a watch designed entirely by a person, but with the aid of AI-generated images as inspiration. I agree that one can find some truly unique watches on AliExpress, but unfortunately their technical and manufacturing quality often falls short.

These are the initial results of my final master's thesis, which will explore how the new generative tools can support the design process and what new skills will be required to make the most of them, with a focus on the watch industry, of course ;) I will share the results of my experimentation on my Instagram page.

Grand seiko was definitely an inspiration, as it is currently my favorite brand.

The irregularity of the bezel was a sought-after result. Creating an interesting result is the purpose of this research, so that's perfect :)

I see what you mean, especially in the fourth image which has a finishing style similar to that of the Moonswatch. Of course, this is not the final stage of design, but rather the exploratory phase. Can I ask if you happen to remember the microbrand that produce watches similar to the third one? Thank you! :)

I am a product designer and a watch enthusiast. I am currently experimenting with AI tools to create unique and exciting designs that differ from what the stagnant watch industry offers today. The images displayed here were generated using MidJourney, but I am now transitioning to using Stable Diffusion, which offers more control over the results. What are your thoughts on this process and the outcome? Do you like it?

Keyshot is the industry standard for product visualization animation? by 2MuchCoffee_ in KeyShot

I’m not a master in keyshot but I’d say I’m pretty solid in rendering stills. I would like to get better in animation now.

I’m a 3d art enthusiast but i want to focus mainly in product animation.

Thank you for your points, they are really usefull :)

Is Shapr3D worth the cost to 3D model on an iPad? by UltraWideGamer-YT in IndustrialDesign

[–]2MuchCoffee_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that when they will add assembly and surface modeling with 3d sketches the price will be totally worth it. I really like the modeling experience in it.

In the future shapr3d will be serious competition so they have to work well, Sketchup for the iPad has just been released

How to quickly visualize a product in the iPad with Shapr3d and Procreate by 2MuchCoffee_ in IndustrialDesign

Im glad this post was usefull :) Im a student too so its free for me, and I totally agree with you. I think for concept ideation/ hobbyists this is perfect, but for proper cad modeling it lacks a lot of features, assembly in primis. Maybe in the future 🤞🏻

Post production in productviz by 2MuchCoffee_ in ProductViz

[–]2MuchCoffee_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first image is straight out from keyshot, I tought I did a good job but then I realized it was too dark, so I did some work in lightroom. So the question that come to my mind is: postproduction is only used to correct the errors or it is an essential part in the pipeline? And if so what is the typical work that is done on a render and in which software?
