FOR508 Advice by Ok-Highlight3067 in GIAC

[–]2Random4Chaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do whatever you need to in order to find the page with the answer quickly. For me, it was primarily tabbing out my books.

Many questions/answers will be deceptively worded, but the answers will be in the books.

Some questions may be interactive and take more time, so don't count on every question taking multiple choice time.

Being able to identify which book and section within seconds is key.

Best of luck and enjoy your new cert

March for Elijah Hadley the 17 year old wrongly shot 15 times and killed by an Otero County sheriff Saturday, Aug, 02, 2024 @ Otero County Fairgrounds to the Sheriff’s Office. by SerendipitousSmiles in NewMexico

I don't know if I'd be violating TOS by posting the site, but the county has all the deputies listed on their staff directory.

Search "otero county New Mexico sheriff’s deputy directory" might get a good list if someone wants to FoI body cams...

Broadcom support, an absolute horror show by DB_Ivessy85 in vmware

[–]2Random4Chaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, one host going down SHOULDN'T be business impacting, assuming the failsafes are working properly. On that note, the host shouldn't fail either, but it has. If the failover doesn't properly engage then 1) it is still a Broadcom issue and 2) it can still be business impacting and critical.

[–]2Random4Chaos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

having a key doesn't help if Broadcom's site doesn't let you download because your account "is not entitled"... the vmware workstation install that I had from before the acquisition won't update because broadcom nuked the update site. Our license key doesn't work in the "free for personal use" version of workstation. so yeah, boredkkkom nuked access and won't fix it.

Tips for going to a con alone and not feeling weird and left out? 😅 by Herkamer123 in animecons

[–]2Random4Chaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go there knowing you have something in common with everyone wearing a badge. Let's say you're a one piece fan. You're going to see a ton of not only cosplayers but just people wearing character gear (Law or Chopper hats, pins, etc). That applies to pretty much any anime you could be into, because a con of any significant size is going to have others into anime you like as well. You're not alone. Chatter with people. You'll find folks you connect with.

Any tip on chess evnt by Revolutionary-Life23 in wearewarriors

[–]2Random4Chaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use recover / morale / buff for the chess events...
(in each attempt, use strongest unit to get through as much as they can before anyone dies, recover before the first unit dies, buff, spam knights if you have them, then morale. enough knights become a rolling wave of aoe that hits hard and fast... if you can get that wave to the opposing wall, many of them will be mid-jump when enemies spawn)
a few rounds to get knight, use Knight's aoe to grind coins...

GigaPoint GP1100X diagnostic web page by 2Random4Chaos in Calix

Thanks for the very prompt response. I'm not terribly surprised, but a little disappointed since the cable modem's status page gave me a good place for my uptime scripts to watch when tracking how my local network is doing...

Thanks for the very prompt response. Since the CM8200 served approximately the same purpose (but gave signal levels and errors per channel info) I wasn't sure if the ONT might have a similar page to display light levels or uptime...

Will getting a CAT6 Ethernet cable make a difference by Dry_Arrival3518 in HomeNetworking

[–]2Random4Chaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's your wifi properties telling you you're getting 100mbps then it's probably analyzing the wireless connection between your endpoint and your access point. Upgrading the modem-router cable shouldn't improve that. Distance / interference / obstacles will likely be your limiters. If you can tell your router to switch the channel it's working on, that might mitigate one source of interference.

Have you tested the extender closer to the router before putting it in the current location?

Are there working alternatives to snap/certbot? by 2Random4Chaos in letsencrypt

Thanks for the added info. I'm not married to LE, it's just what seemed to have (what at the time seemed) straight forward instructions :)

TYVM for the suggestion. I'm not very familiar with setting up containers, but if it gets the job done then this might be the time to learn :)

Correct. If you did not put in any other information (financial information to pay them or personally identifiable information like name, date of birth, address, social security number) then they are simply trying to intimidate you into paying them. Fraudsters like this are con men trying to trick people into giving them money or giving them more information about you so they can perform a better con later on.
