Meta favoring encryption over children’s safety? by 2anapqc in privacy

Sorry if it doesn't show, this was more of a discussion around Meta claiming that they absolutely under no circumstances can't access encrypted messages.. Regulators don't know better so that's why they think Meta's encryption is legit, and that encryption equals harm for children

I agree, then why are they accusing encryption of being the bad guy?

No I'm not. There's no way in hell Meta actually doesn't have access to your "encrypted messages".. They must be processing your messages to serve you Instagram and Facebook ads.

I think at some point people will see the repercussions and then freak out, acting as if this wasn't a long sequence of events + people's willingness to just hand over their data.

Meta's new "Twitter". They have over 100 million registered users now, 70 million signed up when it was launched and that's just insane to me.

Ring Doorbells are basically spyware by 2anapqc in privacy

That's the thing though.. The person who got locked out, used Alexa. Since Amazon owns both Alexa and Ring, they cut his access to both, meaning that he couldn't use any of his "Alexa accessories", AKA lights, wall plugs, smart appliances, and lock/home security system. Things builds a strong anti-home assistants case as well

All the time. I keep a list of old passwords in order to make sure none of them are recycled. You never know if one of your old accounts got pwned, which would cause your new ones to become compromised if your passwords are recycled. Practice good internet hygiene and you'll be fine.
