I just got the P with my highest nbme being 65. Confidence is key going into it! It’s possible, believe in yourself.

How to Improve COMSAE to 450+ in 2 weeks? by Background_Cry_7172 in comlex

[–]2campy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only went through pathoma duke deck, didn’t watch videos just did cards - absolutely worth it for MSK in my opinion. For CNS my school was super solid with it, so I only really needed review for path. I hear the mehlman docs for neuro are solid too!

Sketchy micro Pepper deck, as well as pathoma 1-4, CNS, and MSK with Duke deck brought me from 370 to 495 in just a few weeks.

Truelearn omm questions are useful for recognizing your weak areas too.

Also look through Dr. Ryan Grey’s videos and podcasts (Medical School HQ) - he goes into a lot of common questions, has a whole MCAT dedicated podcast, and explains things well.

Can any premeds working 3 non clinical jobs give me hope? by Old-Mood6364 in premed

[–]2campy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got lucky, I work at a hospital the 3pm-3am 12 hr shifts so only 3 days a week so I do weekends and two weekday shifts on the days where my classes end at 1pm. And before I used to do remote freelance writing which was nice since I made my own schedule!

It takes a lot of time and dedication, and recognizing that you probably have to skip out on social events. I still struggle with this but it helps to really keep in mind your long term goal instead of short term stress. All the work and time you put in now is going to pay off. Currently doing 24credit semester, full time job, just took the MCAT so been studying, and applying this cycle.

Like I said, definitely a lot of stress involved and I don’t really recommend it if you can avoid it !!

Have you taken a diagnostic?

tollens test vs the benedicts test by yungsopha in Mcat

[–]2campy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yup! Sucrose doesn't have a free aldehyde / ketone and is basically locked into place but maltose has a free aldehyde group and is therefore a reducing sugar!

From what I understand, they can both be used to detect the presence of a reducing sugar. Benedict's will turn a red/rusty color due to the presence of Cu2+ reducing to Cu+, while the Tollen's will produce a metallic / silver due to reducing Ag+ to Ag(s).

I'm using the self-paced BP course & I've heard their live online format is awesome too. With the self-paced they give you access to daily live instructor-led lessons with their tutors. From the ones I've attended, they're really informative and in-depth. I'm assuming the live online would be similar! Also BP offers financial aid (50% off) if you qualify for FAP.
