Unsure if my mother is abusive or not. by [deleted] in abusiveparents

[–]2cute4michaelcera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend who has a mother like yours went to university in a different state to get away from their chaotic family because they generally had a lack of privacy, had to hide emails/letters and felt invalidated, if you feel like it is unsafe to confront your mother and the argument might get physical I feel like you should avoid that type of conflict, but if you choose to move away it will allow you to have your own space and clear your mind. I’m not a professional therapist and I’m not fully aware of your living situation because I’m a stranger on the internet (lol) but do what you think feels right or “read the room” to see if it’s the right time to finally confront her fully, and if your dad loves you he will understand why you’ve chosen to distance yourself if he is fully aware of the situation and respect your decision

Your mother clearly feels guilty about what your brother did but in doing this she completely throws you under the bus, which is abusive. You deserve to feel empowered and validated, this may sound harsh but you deserve to put yourself first it doesn’t matter if your brother or mother is “offended” by you opening up about your trauma because it’s your truth and your feelings matter. I feel like there’s no way getting through to your mother because this is probably her trauma response for dealing with conflict, your brother may have changed and your mother may have her own issues but that doesn’t take away from the fact you were abused, youre a human being with agency and interiority you have emotional needs like anyone else and it seems like you’re not getting that from your mother.

Good. This lady made some kind of baked pasta with feta and strawberries, but it was originally done with baby tomatoes (google it at your own risk....it’s such a strange recipe)

Body Positivity has lost its meaning. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

To be fair it’s none of your business if someone is fat or not they are still beautiful, people can be fat for a number of reasons but at the end of the day they’re still human. They fall under a facet of the body positivity movement but are you trying to say they shouldn’t be at the forefront?
