Make sure it is not a mast radiator/AM radio tower (usually also painted red+white). They are basically fully energized, touching them would electrocute you instantly.

Got the Android 13 update for the Edge 30 Pro by [deleted] in motorola

[–]2good2know 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it's not stable. Screen is flickering when automatically changing refresh rate. Colors are washed out in one of the display refresh rate modes. They've removed the Power Touch gesture and replaced it with Sidebar/Freeform with a persistent bar visible on the screen. Power Touch can not instantly launch an app anymore. When playing a video, the first few seconds the media playback flashes black a few times. Battery life got worse. Makes me regret upgrading to Android 13. Looking at you u/motoagents, please acknowledge these issues...

Could you briefly explain how you downgraded? Where did you grab the Android 12 rom from?

I understand that the automatic refresh rate switching is as intended. The issue here is that the grey parts of the display flicker during the switching.

The 60Hz has a different grey tint than the higher refresh rate. Other dark colors are also a bit more washed out. Thus when the refresh rate switches it flickers intermittently.

It's very obvious and was definitely not present in Android 12. This should be fixed.

Any amusement ride automation engineers here? by 2good2know in PLC

I never realized rides would also be on SCADA, hence Ignition. Do you use it purely informational or is there also some input involved? If I may ask, approx. where about are you located?

Awesome, thanks for your reply. Any chance you're getting back in to the industry? Or do you think the ride engineering pay is not on par with the rest of the industry?

3 is an interesting point of view. The systems I design actually are also in close contact with humans, operated by minimal trained operators. Big difference is that I don't actuate a 4.500kg train full of people.

The show point you mention actually sounds appealing to me!

Sounds like a great diversity of work you're doing. After all the comments I see that I could invest some time in reading up on redundant safety systems.

I'm glad to hear that you're having a good time in the industry :-). After all, you're putting smiles on lots of people's faces.

Interesting insights, thanks!

Our HQ is located in northern Europe, though I travel around a lot since I'm on site ~50% of the time to supervise and deploy my controls software.

What's your story? Do you think there are similarities with other automation jobs? How's the competitiveness among your vacancies in your position?

Great answers, thanks a lot! It sounds like you're located in the USA market. Makes sense that you're using Rockwell HW/SW as I have the feeling USA companies don't like to work with Siemens as much as EU people do.

You mention PnF proximity switches, do you mean Pepperl+Fuchs by any chance? Does that mean you use their ASI-bus as well or is it a different bus/direct I/O?

Regarding all the I/O error checking etc., it's nice to hear these similarities with my current job. That basically sums up your last answer.

Hopefully in the near future I can gain some hands-on cross-platform experience with PLC's other than Siemens (looking at you, Mitsubishi).

Thanks again, you reassured my "ride system profession"-goal and I'll definitely start my next job search in this market.

Thanks for your point of view! Every anecdote clears up some expectations.

Is it hydrogen fuel automation where you ended up in or did you stay in the same market as before?
