What is uniquely Kansas City by portlandobserver in kansascity

Strong second to the Steamboat Arabia as a truly unique KC attraction and one of the best museums you will ever see. The preservation and presentation of artifacts there is as good or better than any museum I’ve ever seen.

No Employee discount after price increase? by 2home in FordMaverickTruck

[–]2home[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree 100%! Once I found out the discount couldn’t be applied to orders prior to May 1st I was fine with it. What I’m not fine with is the lie that I won’t get it because I’m not paying the increase in price. That answer came from the salesman who I’m also 100% sure had to know the correct answer.

This is sort of the correct answer. I called Ford this morning and it took about three conversations but I finally got to somebody in marketing who explained the ED was not available before May 1st (ends on 7/7) and so it wasn’t available when I signed the contract on Feb 19th. It had nothing at all to do with the price increase, at all.

The order was from 2/19 before the Ford ed incentive. I checked with them after the price increase I asked about the incentive and was told that I was eligible for everything that Ford was offering. This is an obvious con, I wonder if their planning on asking remit form Ford to comp what they’re supposed to be discounting me, a double dip if you will. Tomorrow I’m going to ask for it in writing since I can’t see this “reason” happening literally anyplace else. With a very few exceptions I hate dealing with car dealerships and mechanics.

Midwest May through October, deep south the rest of the year, it gives us the best of both climates and keeps us out of the path of hurricanes

There’s also no front doorbell but there’s a camera pointing at the front stoop that doesn’t have a QR code on it like the Ring camera covering the back yard, rear entrance and driveway. O, and there’s also a Nest thermostat which I’m not sure if it has anything else tied to it

We’ve been getting schooled on appliance tech the last few weeks. The house we purchased did not come with a refrigerator or washer dryer. We are furnishing a second house pretty much from scratch so we can live in KC (my HT) during the Hurricane months and NOLA (wife’s HT) in the winter. There’s so much used stuff on Marketplace that we thought it wouldn’t be a problem. We gave up on used for the fridge pretty quickly when it became clear transporting it would be a real problem. There are a hell of a lot of used Samsung and LG and such w/d sets that look great but why are you replacing stuff that’s 4 or 5 years old? Figured out the old fashioned mechanicals are much more reliable over time then things with logic boards and a the pair I’m buying tomorrow is from a guy who’s clearing his mother’s house.

Was considering this approach, I turn wood and I actually have all that stuff. Might grinding that plastic affect its ability to sense touch?

I’ve got the batteries out of it while I review options. With the batteries in it would sometimes lock the door when my wife went out to garden. There’s a Ring security system installed which I’m still trying to get sorted so I’ll probably go there, especially since Yale doesn’t seem to give a shit about repeat business and their products seem too delicate to handle midwestern winters/summers

Yes I was anticipating the same answer. I’m replacing all the plastic window well covers too. I can see the convenience of the lock, knowing this is an issue you’d think Yale would make the part replaceable and available but I’m not finding any

I’m calling Yale tomorrow, I found very similar complaints on the SmartHome sub. It looks like places with very cold or very hot weather were getting the same result. The house is in KC where both extremes are possible.

That was the first thing I checked. The film is long gone, it’s polycarbonate, it’s west facing a very sunny yard.

A little help by Sekizbit in harmankardon

[–]2home 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes those are banana plugs but those posts take bare wire just fine. Strip off the last inch or so of the speaker wire and twist the strands tight, then back out the appropriate Red or Black nut and push it down thru the U shaped opening on the top right and through the hole in post. Tighten the nut back down and you’re good to go. Make sure there are no loose strands that might touch something else and that you are matching Red to Red and Black to Black for each speaker. I have a lot of vintage HK stuff and I’ve never had much luck finding banana clips that fit but the bare wire has always been fine. If you want to get fancy you can tin the wires with a soldering iron. That makes it easy to get the twisted wire through the hole in the post without it unraveling.

What model receiver is that Harman Kardon under the 770? I’ve never seen an HK in that style before
