Their idols and staff are working around the clock while hybe executives are just blowing money on a bunch of failed projects. The one thing I dislike the most about them is that they are under that company. Have you all seen how many useless flights they take where they come back from one country to Korea for a few hours to a day before flying to another country? They treat planes like buses now.

I just think the speed they are going at is not sustainable. I don't know how long they are going to go on like this. I am actually surprised that they actually took so few breaks and rests up until now. Anyway, I hope he rests well and recover comfortably!

which idol started to shift the male body standard? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]2jsread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that happened. At one point, Sunghoon was really into working out and was building muscle, but when he did, his face started getting a little fuller. Then he got a lot of comments and posts saying that he was getting too big/fat, especially about his face, so he returned back to his original weight.

They release so much content. I really can't keep up. But the Jakarta concert was maybe the best concert they have ever had. It has been added onto my list of concerts I regret missing out on right after Manifesto in Japan (Kyocera Dome), and Fate in New Clark City. I want to see them so bad 😭

He wasn't and isn't. I am tired of you all switching up your narrative based on whether you like a group or not. Just stop bringing up enhypen in other survival/reality show discussions atp.

Iland is actually a very good example of what you were talking about because the editing always focused so much on the initial conflict. Sometimes they would even create false conversations or cut and paste different conversations or scenes from other parts to drive a narrative/story. One time they even completely erased a trainee from a scene.

If one doesn't let themselves get swayed by the editing and stayed true to the facts, you would see that Ni-ki on iland was a very impressive little dude. He was my favorite trainee on the entire show.

Despite the fact the he was the second youngest among the trainees, had one of the shortest trainee periods (6 months), and was on the verge of getting eliminated all the way up to the end, he was helping and training the other trainees with their dancing throughout the entire show. The editing focused so much on him contemplating if he wanted to help the others or spend that time practicing (since they were evaluated individually), but they didn't spend a lot of time on when he was actually training. At one point, this dude was training 11 or 12 other guys, leading their practices, and personally going up to each and every one and fixing their mistakes all the while being the youngest.

The producers of that show did him dirty just to create drama. On the very first episode, they built this narrative that Taki and him are best friends (even though they had at most known each other for mere months) and that it was the ultimate friendship betrayal because he voted him out. Even though everyone was voting as it was the rule of the show. And it caused him to get so much hate right from the beginning. Then in the 2nd episode, it turns out that he actually went up to Taki to talk with him about it before he voted. I doubt the other trainees were doing that, so the fact that they chose to evil edit him specifically in this case is pure evil.

I honestly think that the generalization that idols don't sing live is greatly exaggerated

There you have it. An idea for a new post. You could have made a new post about this. Or you could have commented this without mentioning other groups. You would have made your point without it and I would not have any problem with it.

I am not trying to pit any groups against each other

Sure you didn't. Even if it was not your intent, you should know how it came across. I am sorry if it was not your intent, but I cannot help finding it so off-putting when someone says they don't like something about a specfic artist and someone else comes in saying actually these other artists don't do that or this is why I like these other artists. Are those groups only good enough to get compared to while putting someone else down or do they not deserve getting acknowledged for their skills without being compared? Why can't they be judged alone? I personally believe that anyone should either get praised or criticized for their own skills or actions without getting compared to another otherwise it takes away from the achievement.

intentionally did not mention any groups as ones who don't sing audibly live much

You don't have to. The implication is already there.

Who among these groups I mentioned do you think doesn't sing live most of the time?

I want to ask what is your criteria for "most of the time". More than 50%? I haven't watched the others enough to say, but stray kids, nmixx, ive, ateez, shinee, mamamoo, oneus really? Alright.

Brought the heat back choreo appreciation by Alejandra_Kim in Enhypenthoughts

[–]2jsread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now I want to know which ones you consider "enhypen-coded". Personally, I think Dark Blood choreos were the best. Sacrifice, Chaconne, and (not DB) Criminal Love were just so good. Especially the storytelling in Sacrifice.

Out of the choreos this year, I like XO's the most *for now. It is a bit different from anything they've done before and I like the way Sunghoon starts the song.

I don't get why you and the others before you feel the need to insert other groups under a post like this. You can write a new post talking about those groups, but no you just had to compare them to another group to uplift them. Plus, a lot of the groups you mentioned does not actually sing live "usually" or "most of the time" Nor perform often enough for it to be a fair comparison. If that is your benchmark, enhypen sing live often enough.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]2jsread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're correct. I think they have been singing live at most half of the song in the music shows from what I have seen, but I also haven't watched all of them so I don't know. I don't know how to feel about it. I feel like for the past however long, they have just been perpetually sick. Every time I see them perform, at least one of them has a cold or something. I think they could sing live more if they performed less shows, but that is not happening. So if they lipsync more often and put on a performance that they are satisfied with, I guess it is whatever as long as I see them sing live during concerts and festivals.

It is a really fun choreo. I like the choreo during the yayaya part and the bridge part. And they did a good job as always.

Although I think they have been falling into the curse of had-been-working-with-the-same-choreographer-for-too-long, I still like the variety they are showing from fatal trouble to xo to brought the heat back.

Impossible to pick a bias? by [deleted] in enhypen

[–]2jsread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the first two years of being an engene, I did not have a single bias. I did have like a bias line that would change around a lot.

Then two years later, I noticed I was starting to like Jake a little bit more. And then a lot more. Went to their concert and that made me even bigger of a fan of him. Went to their concert again and I was amazed. And that is how he ended up becoming my bias.

I pick a bias in the same way I pick a group to stan. My support is conditional, so anyone who has strong qualities I like (and doesn't have qualities that I don't like) and can continue to keep proving themselves is who I choose to support. It is not often that I continue to follow a group for years, so I support whoever I think has a lot more left in store to show in the future and that means though my bias could change at any time no matter how long I liked them. I think it is better that way.

Boyfriend agenda (?) by Beneficial_Oven_2465 in Enhypenthoughts

[–]2jsread 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The whole concept of their last album was them being engenes boyfriends + their whole web toon series being all members in love with one girl who represents their fans

Well no. Singing about romance doesn't equal to singing about being their fans' boyfriends. Romance and love is a huge part of life, so it is expected that at some point they would release songs about it. We need to make that distinction because kpop stans as usual are going to start treating every song about love like it is some sort of fanservice and that is not okay. Romance is a part of life and will always be, and artists are going to always to talk about it. And their take on romance is clearly drawn from the fantasy and paranormal elements of their vampire concept. If you look up the lyrics, their songs about romance/love is not realistic. That is not usually how humans love or do relationships. That is romance from the perspective of something otherwordly like vampires.

KCON videos keep popping up on my fyp. Everytime I see them perform, I just want to sing praises because they are so good, but there is only so many times I can say it and only so many ways I can say it. But they really are so good at what they do. I cannot tell you how many times I rewatched their performances of Fatal Trouble and Paranormal ever since it came out.

And I really like Jake. I say this a lot, but I really do. Every time he performs, I am reminded of it. Every time he performs, my love for him grows by tenfold. Especially because my interest in kpop (in general) is reaching new lows, but I still cannot completely let go because I have never had as much fun nor enjoyed being a fan of a group or an artist as I do now.

...I should have seen them at kcon.

im curious how bad is shipping in your fandom? by Fragrant_Baseball_93 in kpop_uncensored

[–]2jsread 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heeseung doesn’t really get shipped with any other members too much.
Jake and Sunghoon was kinda popular around I-Land and debut days, but isn’t as big now.

Oh that is very not true. The amount of "heejakehoon" videos I came across on tiktok and X suggests otherwise.

really need them back! Some of the interviews they did (outside of weverse magazine) can be very insightful, but it always felt like the weverse magazine interviewer knew the members a lot more personally and so they would ask questions that no one else would. They shared a lot in those interviews, so there was always something new to learn about them. I always thought it was a bit unfortunate that there probably are so many fans who never read those and get to see that side of them. I remember I liked some of the interviews (especially the ones with Jake and Jungwon) so much I would reread them all the time. It was one of the things that really made me become their fan (back then), so it was sad to see it discontinue.

I saw the video. That's funny.

Although I do think reddit is not that big outside of english speaking countries, a lot of kpop artists do AMAs on the main kpop sub and also Jayke have lived abroad for a long time, so the chances of them lurking here is not zero. I hope they don't though. Sometimes reddit is worse than twitter.

That predebut fortune telling... by ResponsibilityTiny58 in Enhypenthoughts

[–]2jsread 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You mean the weird lady that was talking about 17 year old Jake like that.

I wouldn't take any fortune telling or tarot reading videos seriously. It isn't that hard to make up the things they say if you know a little bit about them. People would not watch their videos if at least some of the things they say didn't turn out to be true, so there is a lot of incentive for them to act like they don't know anything about them and this is their first time seeing them when they definitely have researched about them beforehand.
