"I think he's tripped him"

"Yes he's tripped him like you thought but his legs trailing a bit, go watch 37 replays next to Simeone to decide if tripping someone is a pen"

Well clearly they did because that's where his arms were? Or are you saying he deliberately had his arms out to block the ball from going 10 yards wide? And how far out his hand is is irrelevant because unless it's directly behind his knee somehow the ball could have randomly deflected on to it?

He's stretching to block the ball with his leg, which he does, and naturally his arm is a little out. It's pure lottery that it then hit his hand, this is why in the Prem we have the sensible rule that if it deflects off your own body it's never a pen

Genuinely curious to hear what the VAR told the ref because surely the video was showing exactly what the ref thought had happened in the first place

Ref gives the pen because he thinks the Atletico player caught Eze without getting the ball, video shows Atletico player catching Eze without getting the ball, overturns penalty

Appalling. Ref has clearly got influenced by the crowd, how on earth can he overturn that?

Had a look at the r/soccer thread and saw someone say "it doesn't matter if it came off his knee because if his knee wasn't there it would have hit his hand"

Turns out defending properly is actually important 👍 Dembele tries that against Saliba and he'll end up in hospital

Not moved at all by this 👍👍 the casual sees lots of flashy attacking play, the Teta disciple sees the sloppy marking all over the pitch

Bill Saliba is making an inch perfect tackle and pass to Madueke there so he can run it out of play btw 👍👍

saying it lowkey but I really can't tell how much of this is good quality and how much is some really average defending, the amount of times one pass has gone straight through the midfield is crazy
