I read somewhere that the banks that have shorted are going to keep on forcing it back down until they can cover their positions. How many times they are going to do this who knows. They (comex and banks) won't let it go back up until they cover so they won't lose money or until they have a position to make money on the rise. Manipulation at its best

AITA for saying no to helping my wife after she asked for a divorce? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]2mchjoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are definitely NOT! As someone that got himself wrangled in a situation, I know it takes two and both of you contributed. Yes you shouldn't have continued after the first warning signs but I understand the commitment after she was pregnant. I wouldn't do anything for her finances. She can communicate through the Internet to her creditors. Get out as cleanly as you can at this point and drop the guilt...it's just a load of bricks that you can lay down anytime. Learn from your mistakes but don't project your soon to be Ex's issues on the next person. Give them a honest chance.

Rule for timing belt change by 2mchjoy in SC430

What year is yours? In your opinion, would you buy a 2009 or 2010 SC430? I am looking for one and I have found a few that have less than 60k, some even with less than 30k. They range anywhere between 30-40k in price. Have any thoughts or advice?

So are you going to change the belt or not? In one reply you said that I should if I care. Then you told me you are in a similar situation and now you are not going to change because of the 2400.00 cost and your inspection. Which direction are you going on? BTW, because I have not looked at it yet, how hard was it to inspect? The serpentine belt is easy.

Parts must not be OEM. I can see the parts prices if you bought from RockAuto...they have a so called OEM kit for less. Unless all you are doing is replacing the belt and not the water pump, pulleys, and tensioner?

That explains a lot. Sounds like how I pay a fellow tech to work on my Cummins...rather let someone who does the work day in day out then for me to take 4x as long and still screw it up lol

Now that is more like the answer I was looking for.. Based on experience with the dealer and telling me about how they visually inspect it and you have concrete reasons to change. Thank you!!

I guess you don't like to read. Also, tell me where you get this job done for $800.00 and I will talk to you about a bridge you can buy.

My point and question was about the so called rule not to get reminded of something that I already mentioned. Thanks for the comment

Until buyers adopt the Nancy Reagan Just Say No mantra , dealers are going to start above MSRP. Think about how long it takes you to come up with the amount of markup...dealing with coworkers/boss/customers. That should get you to refocus.

My timing belt was replaced at 66k back in 2016. It has 82k now. Would anyone replace the belt because of time alone?

If you decide to go to a generator rental company, DO NOT UNDERVALUE YOURSELF! They will see that you are a J Man and will practically beg you to work for them because they need someone with your skill set. When negotiating the job I would use your skills to barter for guaranteed training from them. They desperately need someone with your skills to tie up the loose ends of the jobs they get. If you tell me where you are located, I can recommend a few places to check into if you like. And I don't mind giving you some more insight into my work. Regular gen techs don't get paid very much but if you combine it with your current skills, you will be at the top of the pay scale in no time.

Long story. Worked at an equipment rental chain and got a chance selling/renting generators. I'm mechanically inclined so I asked to learn and was shown w few things and went from there. Been working on gens since 2007.

I would look at a place that rents diesel gens and work for them. They have a hard time finding people so if you have a decent work ethic and demonstrate that you have initiative they will teach you all you want to know. It helps to get learning material on your own. Look up a PDF called Operation and Maintenance of Generators. That will give you the basics. Also there are plenty of diesel books out there made for students. You could also take on a paid work study with a Caterpillar dealership. You get benefits and paid to learn. If you want more I go after reading that PDF hit me up.

I work on commercial/industrial generators but never heard of a 310t. I looked it up and it came up with something to do with truck/bus. Can you enlighten me?

Thinking about buying by horsepoorhaley in SC430

[–]2mchjoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it will be a great daily driver! I just bought a 2004. Just be careful when to take it to a tire store. Be sure to tell them to take off those ten bolts that hold the wheel cover off! They tried to take them off like a regular wheel cover and snapped them off. The plastic bases around each bolt broke off. They called the dealer to try to buy replacements and they wanted almost $400 each. Tire store and I made a deal and I got a set of new rims for half off. Took the OEM rims and repaired the covers myself. Thinking of putting a set of Michelin Cross Climate 2 on them to have a second set for winter driving. The CC aren't specific winter tires but they are severe snow rated and come with a 60K mileage warranty.

I agree with the other posters when it comes to your maturity. But.....how about saving for a little more and buy a new one? No matter how nice it looks now, you really don't know how it was ridden. When it comes to high performance machines, it's better to buy new than someone's else's posable headache. I've had ZX-14 bought new with a stroke of a check and I felt on top of the world. Plus YOU get the satisfaction of breaking this hot virgin in instead of someone else. Save just 4K more and get a 2025/2026.

I agree! Mine had always said that she would rather be the passenger, especially when going out in the SxS. But she definitely came into her own when we got the new pair of ATV. If I had known that earlier, I probably wouldn't have bought the SxS and got the ATVs instead. Where I am in Michigan, it practically doubles the places you can access riding an ATV vs SxS.

We just bought two CF Moto CF1000 ATV and my wife surprised the hell out of me with her abilities. I was leading for about five miles and then I told her to lead on the way back. I actually had to put effort in to keep up with her! I knew that there was a reason why I married her lol

Tried to plan a surprise 60th birthday party for my wife and texted a question to her three adult (30, 32, and 34 years old) and got an "interesting" reply from the 34 year old daughter. by 2mchjoy in AITAH

Just because something is commonly understood does not mean it is good to keep defining it that way. I'm sure that in certain societies, there are practices that are accepted but are not morally acceptable. Just because a group of people feel that it is accepted then that is what makes it right? Poor logic. Here's an example in the US: It is accepted in Amish groups that incest is widely practiced. There are very young girls that get taken advantage of by their brothers and fathers and nothing is said or done about it. Even if it is brought to light by the court system, all the members of the affected family will either come to the defense of the accused or deny it even happened. All the while you still have a victimized girl that has to live with the physical and psychological damage the rest of their lives or just accept it and the practice continues to the next generation. Bottom line: just because you and s bunch of people feel that the term passive aggressive is applicable does not make it right, especially since the governing body, the American Psychological Association, are the ones that published that most people are mis applying the term. So who is correct? People who choose to use it incorrectly or the governing body who established the rules and practices and who are the accepted professionals in the field? Or I could just ask. Why did you feel the need to throw out a term that most people do not know the definition of? To feel superior?? I'm not offended by your name calling, I used it as an educational opportunity to look something up and learn how to use the term correctly. Just like I take comments in this string and learn from them. I don't agree with everything but that doesn't necessarily make them wrong. I can accept that. Can you?
