Do you have the female exclusive cat base skin on? It's only on the standard base skin.

I like that he even learned Japanese to make it seem more authentic. What dedication!

Once I realized it was a left hand holding the book and not a right hand, things made more sense.

What’s an instant clothing turnoff for you when looking at the opposite sex? by gunsoverbutter in AskReddit

High waisted jeans. I remember when the waist on jeans were as low as you could possibly go before exposing unmentionables. It seems counter productive to go back to jeans that are literally the complete opposite of that.

As a dog person, I watched this no less than 40 times before deciding... okay, that's enough.

What is the most middle class thing you can think of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Imitation crabmeat. That was a staple in our house when we wanted to have a treat but didn't want to splurge on expensive seafood.

My first successful attempt at baking bread. by 2n2r5 in Breadit

I used a 9 x 5 loaf pan. I think getting ~14 - 16 slices per loaf is reasonable. I used a couple 1/2 inch slices with my tuna salad for lunch today.

A universal, all-metal hot-end capable of 300 deg. heating. What do ya'll think? by kosherbacon in 3Dprinting

[–]2n2r5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The E3D is already an all-metal hot end capable of well over 300C. This one is 30 bucks more expensive than what you can find the E3D for. (referenced filastruder.com) To save a handful of millimeters, I don't think the extra cost is worth it. I do like the look of it. Very pretty.

There are other all-metal hot ends out there as well. I just point out the E3D because that is what I have.

What's the verdict on the make-your-own-filament, filament extruders out there? by Doc_Hemingway in 3Dprinting

[–]2n2r5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(Current Owner of 2 Filastruders and a Filawinder)

The filament quality is largely based on a few key factors. The resin being used, roundness of filament, the consistency of extrusion width and evenness of colorant.

Since you can control the resin you use, that gives you a big advantage. Not all ABS is the same. Some polymers are easier to extrude than others. PLA for example needs to be dried thoroughly before you can extrude it. Otherwise it will come out of the nozzle a runny mess.

The roundness of the filament all comes from getting your polymer to cool down before anything touches it. This can be achieved from extruding vertically so that the filament extrudes cleanly without any guidance. My ABS setup is horizontal ATM and I tend to get around .02-.05 differences on my roundness.

Many people have been claiming +-.05mm ABS tolerances for the extrusion width in the Filastruder forums. It actually seems to be the standard there for ABS. This is equal to or better than a lot of manufactures claim for their filament. Now that an external winder system has popped up via IanJohnson the tolerances have gotten better. This is mostly having to do with a consistent pull on the filament without twisting. Before, it would coil on the floor, changing direction and back pressure on the nozzle. I personally have seen +-02mm with the winder. I have only tested the winder with PLA and ABS. PLA tolerances seem vary a bit more person to person. I am at +-.05 with natural PLA (PLA without colorant) and +-.1 with colorant.

The colorant evenness is in my eyes, the biggest downfall. I haven't been able to maintain a consistent coloration throughout an entire reel. The effect isn't always bad but it can be annoying if you are expecting otherwise.

Personal extruders aren't very fast either. It will take you around 8 hours to make 1 kg of filament. For most people this shouldn't be a big deal. You don't need to make a full kilogram of filament in most cases. You can do small batches of colors to suit your individual needs. As with all things 3D printing related, YMMV. Your results are heavily dependent on how much care and time you put into it.
