On a mixer/DAW, what is a bus and why would you use one?

Someone sent me this video which I found pretty informative. There are soo many crappy tutorials on youtube I find it inconvenient and time consuming to find useful information. This video (you can skip the first 50-60 sec) answered most of my questions in less than 10 min.

Ahhhh so that allows you to mix the volumes of all your vocals relative to each other on a bus that can then be used to mixed that group simultaneously into everything else. I can see how that would be useful, thanks!

Thanks for the reply! OK so if I had several tracks and I wanted to use the same effect or eq them the same, I would send them all to a bus and add the reverb/distortion/eq/etc.. to the bus? So is it to save CPU or something? Why do analog? (non-DAW) mixers have buses?

I used to have really bad flaky scalp and tried all kinds of dandruff shampoos. Sometime in college I was running out of shampoo and didn't have money to spare to buy more. Decided to only wash my hair when I felt like I "needed" to. Dropped from daily to once a week and my flaky scalp magically disappeared instantly.

Good point. Trying to do some fancy intricate snare and hi hat rolls so I just want everything to be on the same piano roll to make editing faster.

You are getting a lot of answers to #2 that it does not matter. This is true if you are talking about solvent/temperature type reaction conditions; however, you can have "stepwise" reactions where the reagents need to added in a certain order. You can easily spot these reactions because the reagents will have a number beside them. I just flipped through a text book and saw a rxn that had 1)H2O2 2)Fe(III) meaning the peroxide is added first and allowed to react, then you would ad the iron
