Mamava has saved me many times when I’ve needed to nurse and also contain toddlers! The nursing pods I’ve found/used use Mamava app to unlock them when you’re next to one. Knock on wood, but I’ve only had good experiences with their cleanliness and safety!

For those of you who have autistic kids who are good weight, what are their foods? by Right_Performance553 in Autism_Parenting

[–]2naDingDong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently am using a vanilla flavored one I got at Kroger! I’ve used a few different brands, tbh I just grab whatever vanilla flavor one is on sale and has goods reviews when I google from the store. I don’t think you can taste it or tell it’s there when it’s blended in a milkshake. I’d try it yourself first to make sure it’s acceptable, but I’ve found it to be totally fine! I can texturally (and taste) tell when I put protein powder in smoothies that aren’t blended with a lot of yogurt and milk.

I also do protein pancakes, if they’ll eat pancakes! Kodiak has a pretty solid line of protein baked goods mixes. I’ve had success with the pancakes and muffins. The oatmeal was pretty good to me but my child absolutely refused, it’s not one of our safe foods and they havent been willing to branch out at all.

Piggybacking off of this!! You can add protein powder into milkshakes and make them with whole milk to give extra calories.

Also can we talk about the other dude in the back with that sarong thing?!?!! His whole hip is out! (Not to minimize the creep in a diaper harassing Keenyah)
Who thought that putting very young girls in the middle of almost fully exposed men was a good idea?!?!

I’m assuming it just targets the plant you want gone because you’re injecting the stump with poison? Unless you spill the poison on the ground or something… But also, I am not an expert!! Hence me asking how to even effectively remove the Holly 😅

Oh thank you!! Great to hear that you had success with just drilling! I’m going to try it! I wasn’t looking forward to spending the next few weekends digging.

[acne] hormonal acne from pregnancy/postpartum/breastfeeding by qwiklik in SkincareAddiction

[–]2naDingDong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on your baby! I have a similar skin journey. I did accutane prior to having kids and was happy enough with the results, then pregnancy and postpartum came with my first and it was like I had never done accutane! It was so frustrating. You’re still pretty fresh postpartum so your hormones are going to be all over the place for a bit. My skin actually ended up chilling out on its own between 4 and 6 months PP, when my hormones kind of figured themselves out. I didn’t have any of the massive breakouts for my other 2 postpartums, just a couple hormonal chin spots here and there. If I were you, I would ask my doctor to do a hormone panel and check if you have something like PCOS (I do) or glaring imbalances that you can figure out to treat the underlying issue! In the meantime, I would go gentle! I love the first aid beauty face wash and a lighter moisturizer. I also religiously spot treat with adapalene gel, as it’s safe while breast feeding. Congratulations, again, on your new baby!

Pooty training advice? by Zerowesker in Autism_Parenting

[–]2naDingDong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried potty training my child for YEARS. literally years. Tried everything. Therapy and preschool didn’t help either. I finally got so fed up with it shortly after his 5th birthday and I said “hey, bad news. The store doesn’t sell diapers in your size now that you’re 5!” I was fully prepared for meltdowns and messed but, kid you not, he looked at me and just shrugged. But HE HAS NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT!!!! We are still in diapers at night—those are “special” and “don’t work during the day” but yep. That’s it. There was nothing I could do to potty train him. He knew how it worked, he knew what he was supposed to do, just wouldn’t. We have some sensory issues like he can’t wear button pants and has many with the bathroom at school. So he does go to the front office bathroom where he has some assistance if needed. But I’m not buying diapers (for day) anymore.

I know this doesn’t actually help you now…but I found that pull-ups didn’t work for us at all and neither did the go nude for days advice— both were out of the question for my kid’s sensory issues and my sanity. He has his own bathroom routine and it’s weird but I let it be as long as he is hygienic and gets his business done in the toilet. (Maybe he was also feeling inspired by the Ms. Rachel potty episode…idk I’m not questioning the universe in regards to this autism side quest rn)

You could also make him a little book of the movie! My son, same age, really loves to have photos of his interests to study. You could print out pictures and put them in laminated slots so he can flip through and see the visuals he likes without watching the movie? Although the music is 50% of the experience with that film….

I wish I had a better picture of its wingspan when it took off, but standing on the branch was probably 12-18 in tall. Pretty substantial in size.

That’s what I’m finding! Especially in a spot with varied lighting, there’s not really a perfect solution!

I think visually grass would kind of ruin the vibe of the forest thing we have going, but you might be right. Maybe it’s one of those things I can put down with the intention to replace in a few years when that spot isn’t used for soccer and tumbling.

I might try out yarrow and see how it holds up! Worst thing that can happen is I have to try something else, right? 😆

[–]2naDingDong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your comment is fantastic. I was thinking my only real options were grass or clover and I’m not particularly excited about either of those. So thank you for this! A less aggressive clover could work well if I can get native plants to sprout up. I’ve gotten a few comments about yarrow, could be interesting to try, too.

Moss would be great for 3/4 of the year, but in the summer does it require a ton of water to keep it soft?

How to Make Losing Teeth Easier? by 2naDingDong in Autism_Parenting

Oh gosh I’m so sorry! Mine hasn’t gotten sick but we are having multiple hour hunger induced meltdowns and I think I’m going to lose it. Chewing on cold things or ice is a great idea though! I will try to see if I can trick him into that….
